Adaptive suspension?
Soon I will place an order for an edrive40. One of ly biggest dilemmas is the adaptive supension. Off course my preference would be to have it. But in order to have the adaptive suspension I also need to choose the m sport packages. Apart from some esthetic changes it adds little for me. So basically choosing the adaptive suspension will cost over 4000 EUR. A lot.
Thus I would like to get some feedback from people not having the adpative suspension. Is it something you regret that you didn’t pick it when ordering the car? Or does it feel also very good withoit this geature? |

My parents have the i4 e40 without M suspension, and my mom has made small complaints about stiffness here and there, but nothing bad. The M suspension is one of the best suspensions available of any car, so getting an i4 without seems a bit off to me. All suspension has compromises. Adaptive suspension has far, far fewer compromises. |

Agreed. Totally worth it. Especially, when you have a rear wheel drive vehicle. There's a lot of good reviews about the e40 with M sport. Most reviewers stated it's the model to get.

I don't have adaptive suspension on my non-MSport eDrive40.
I wanted the smallest possible wheels, and that trumped adaptive suspension. In order to get a combination of 18 inch wheels (no 17s available in USA) and adaptive suspension I would have had to go to xDrive40 for a significant premium. It wasn't worth it to me. It's not my daily driver and the primary driver also insisted on the "not stupidly thick steering wheel" so MSport package was ruled out. I kid you not. I find it to be totally fine. The base suspension strikes a nice balance between comfort and sportiness. If I had to guess, it is closer to the comfort setting of the adaptive suspension in the M50 I test drove. And that's what I wanted. But this isn't our fun car. We have a B58-based vehicle for that (which does have adaptive). |

Thanks for the feedback. Off course I know that the better suspension has its value. But currently it’s up to me to see which comprise to make. And hence I am very curious how the I4 drives with the base suspension. I would like to have a car with a sporty nature but Ibam not a race-track driver. This car will be my main driver. And often comfort will be the preferred setting. |

Not entirely made up yet. Another option I am considering is going for the xdrive40. Better suspension is standard. And rhe difference in price e40 vs x40 is more or less equal to the difference of an e40 without sport package and without improved suspension versus one with sport package and improved suspension. I wish I was able to testdrive all different versions myself. |
