So far, it seems everyone commenting on this update has a 2024 or later model year. Is that correct? I think this release may be 8.5 only?

No, my early IX (built in 2021) finally managed to install this 11/2024 version through OTA.

Well, the car kept throwing up signs saying .74 was ready to install, so WTH, I told it to go ahead, and the install went swimmingly this time.

So far, no obvious screw ups. Anxious to see if there’s any issue with my scheduled CP Flex charging tonight.

.78? That's a new one. I'm still trying to install .74, I just checked and it's still stuck w/no sign that a new update has been pushed.

Well … interesting point … the car is running 11/2024.30 now.

Again, the OTA failed for months so I basically gave up on it. But last week for some reason the upgrade process went fine (where it previously said: preparing install … and around 6% it then threw a message ‘no remote software upgrade available’)

Apologies, I meant .74. Thick thumbs and/or not paying attention! lol

I changed it above.

Gonna drive it like this for a few days and see if anything changes.
Yup, didn't encounter this issue anymore. This is sooo stupid. Instead of being an exception setting to reduce the charge rate for specific area, now you have to make everything to higher manually.

That's strange, mine does not do this. Mine maintains the unlimited charge rate anywhere I go.

I am having the same issue. It seems to automatically default to a max of 6A for AC charging. I have set it to "Unlimited" but the system sometimes randomly overrides that setting. Even if I activate "Current Limit for AC Charging," and set it 40A or 48A, it keeps reverting to 6A. The 6A limit also shows up in the screen that appears when the vehicle is turned off, which I find annoying.

Is there a workaround?

After I disabled location based charge settings I don't hit this issue anymore. If you need to use location based charge setting, you'll have to manually set it to the max rate every time you charge at a new location. If it's a location you go to often, you would want to add it to your list.

Do you have location based charge setting enabled? It's that setting that causes this in the new firmware.

I don't even know where this setting would be. I want my iX to charge at max rate everywhere I go. The location-based settings are only good if you need to limit the charge rate artificially for some reason, like if your breakers are tripping.

I took my iX in for service this week because of the starter battery message that was preventing the software update. They found nothing wrong with the starter battery and performed the update there.

Show off, my dealer still refused to do it. I need to get to another dealer soon. Even BMW customer service said dealer will have to do this.

They did warn me when I dropped it off that BMW generally doesn’t cover software updates. But when they saw the error message, they said that was a new error and since it prevented installing the update, they’d check it out. They went ahead and handled it since there were no faults with the starter battery.

I don't understand this mentality but it's not unheard of even for BMW dealers for the ICE vehicles. This is dealer specific so shopping for a new dealer might be in order. This assumes you have options in your local market. But you can also get around this BS by saying you're encountering a bug that you know is addressed in the new software.

Same.

"found that the OTA was blocked by low 12v battery warning. 12v battery was not low"

Shame they didn't have 03/2025.xx though...

What I can say about 11/2024.74, after a couple of days, is that this feature "Comfort Access now with even more stable functions" is doing a great job.

For months (before this update) using DK+ the doors would not open in a timely manner when grabbing the door handles. I have unlock on approach disabled.

Now it opens straight away.

That and at some location, I don't have to pay when I charge below a certain amperage. The feature used to be "max amperage unless specified at a lower rate" now it's "min amperage unless specified" so it defaults to 6A for any location.
