Does anyone know if when using Waze, Google Nav or Apple Nav on apple car play shows it in the HUD ?

You are right, apple navigation is the only one, I never use apple navigation, but do use Waze and Google, I think I read somewhere that Waze and google integrates in HUD on Idrive 8.

I am configuring my order for the I4 , I never use BMW or Apple navigation, Waze and google do not integrate on HUD, and I use polarized sunglasses that do not let me see HUD, I am trying to decide if I need to order HUD,

You can get different lenses for you glasses. The polarized lenses do not offer any kind of eye protection anyway, they just minimize the glare.

I use revant optics for my oakley sunglasses.

Looks like the HUD integration is pretty basic (from the picture). I like the fact you get full map view in the instrument but they'll need to really work on the HUD.

I'm pretty sure you just get basic directions like "turn left in X.x miles" with Google maps and Apple Maps. Not a fancy graphic showing the road and lanes and the lane you need to be in like the BMW navigation in the HUD.

I have yet to try the Nav on the i4 but I wished BMW were leading the tech on HUD and including augmented reality directions like you get on the iD3/4/5.

Augmented directions are available in the iX

i4 does not have the option for an AR camera installed in the KAFAS camera array on the windshield.
