Charg initializing, then failing.
Hello,
I am very new to the EV world. I was able to charge successfully at an "electrify America" station. When I came to a public lot, it was a generic lot with a generic charger. It had a place for me to tap my debit card and then push the start button to start charging. Once I would plug into my port, it would say initializing, and then the charge would eventually fail. I thought maybe I plugged in too soon, so I started over, scanned my card, hit the start button, and then plugged in. It was the same thing. Was it a faulty unit? or am I the faulty unit =? |

Did you try a different charger? That happened to me on a defective public charger once before.

Faulty charging station unit. If you try and number of times car disables dc fast charging speeds for an hour or so to prevent damage.

Thank you Stogi4 for the post. Same exact issue here. I'm also new to E vehicles and just got an i4. Love it but charging is tough.
The issue I had was at Charge Point Chargers. I got to "initialization" step and then failed. I tried 4 different Charge Point stations, the 4th one finally worked. My thoughts are this is a BMW issue, the ChargePoint station seemed ready to charge but was waiting on the car. Electrify America seemed to work fine. Any other thoughts on the issue? Does this always happen at ChargePoint? |
