Merino Leather on 550e

Hi,

Just received a 550e with extended Merino leather. If full was an option I would have taken it. What I cannot believe is how much BMW is tamping down on premium materials - cannot even pay for them unless looking at an M-model or the 7-series; when speaking sedans.

What exactly is the "real" leather portion on an extended merino leather build? Besides the seats and center armrest? I don't even think the small armrest on the door is real, but cannot 100% tell.

Here is a real-life picture - I circled in red what I "thought" was merino leather - but honestly cannot tell, and my first impression is it's not.

In general, I think BMW "extended" means lower dash.

I doubt that your console is leather, though the center surely is. I suspect that the door armrests are leather.

The interior is changed up from the traditional type, which relying on past practice a bit tenuous.
