Apparently from what I read in google DAPP does use the connected drive to get real time traffic data and route etc.I couldnt really find the documentation in BMW website but might make sense reg the real time traffic info. There wasnt any fog, moisture or direct sunlight when I drove. It did miss the preconditioning schedule though even though its in there. Also have u noticed if the BMW app keeps freezing and slow to respond. Tried to open my app like 3-4 times to precondition this evening and it wouldnt respond and just got stuck on the home screen. Had to close it multiple times before it even responded.

Have you actually logged out of the app and then logged back in, versus just closing/opening it? Also, if the car is doing some crazy software issue things, have you rebooted the centre screen by pushing and holding down the volume control until the centre screen goes blank? Lastly, locking the car and walking away from it with all keys and allowing it to sit for a couple of hours sometimes sorts out odd behaviour according to others here on the board, as it places the car in a ‘deep sleep’ mode. |

iDrive reboot should not impact digital keys at all. I have done it several times no problem.

Sitting in the car, press the start stop button 3 times in a row. The instrument cluster will tell you after a few seconds that you are in diagnostic mode. Then did the press and hold volume button until the screen reboots twice. After that, for good measure searched for app updates as well but i don't think that did anything. Opened the app and after initially still showing me the old status for a second or two... Boom.... Updated to the actual current status. Note that this diagnostic reset was NOT in the instructions sent to me by BMW when i opened a ticket about the issues. Hope this fixes it for you if you still have issues. |

The past couple of days my iPhone was not unlocking my car through my digital wallet which was not great because it was raining and having to open it through the app manually (was grabbing something quick out of the car). I restarted the phone and everything worked normally afterward. Glad I had my key fob inside the building because that would have been interesting to get stranded without any key sources (Fob or key wallet) if nothing would turn on the car.

It's an understandable feature as the car isn't repeatedly locking/unlocking for no reason. That said, it's not understandable when you have unlock on approach disabled, yet the feature still gets imposed. |

These issues often happen because the car does not receive a strong enough cellular data signal. BMW, in its infinite wisdom, decided against letting us tether our cars to our home wifi to make this a non-issue. If you ask, your cellular provider can give you a cellular signal booster that might make life a little easier.

What is their reasoning in not allowing connection to Home WiFi? I assumed most cars that use over the air software updates would have a way to utilize Home wifi to insure fast effective transmission.

I don't think anyone knows BMW's reasoning. But every other car I know that is capable of OTA connects to home WiFi for updates.

There are elements of the iX that feel downright backward, while others feel very futuristic. I think it was designed by committee.

When I complained about not being able to use home or work WiFi (like Tesla, Land Rover, Jaguar, etc), BMW shockingly told me this is one of their biggest complaints and requests. But, he said for some reason BMW refuses to add home WiFi capability ![]() |
