Question BMW iX Charging issues

Hello All,
I recently took delivery of a 24 iX and have been having some issues with charging it at a Tesla destination charger. I have used 3 adapters already to no luck whatsoever.

Was wondering if anyone here has had issues charging it with a Tesla lvl 2 destination charger? And i you managed to make it work what did you do?

My app reads "charging cable has been unlocked" and it just simply does not charge at all.

I have had success at an Electrify America fast charger though. So i know there's no issue with my charging port or any hardware for that matter.

These are the adapters I have used it if it helps.

I have the Lectron and charge at home using my Tesla Gen 2 wall connector without issues. However, Gen 3 and later Tesla wall connectors can be locked to charge only Tesla vehicles. This feature is disabled by default, but the operator can change this setting. Maybe that is what you experienced. It would be a stupid thing for them to do, but I have seen some establishments do this.

Do you have the same Lectron I posted by any chance or is it a different model? I know they have a couple out there.

Here in the UK some Tesla destination chargers are locked to Tesla only. I go to one hotel regularly that has two Tesla chargers side by side. One is locked to Tesla and the other is open to all… maybe that is your problem?

I haven’t had any issues with the 48amp Lectron adapter. If I recall correctly, you may need to make sure to plug the adapter to the destination charger first then wait a bit before plugging into the car. Lectron says to wait 30 seconds before plugging it into the car.

Interesting. Yes. I followed the instructions to a T and nothing.
Some folks talked about it being a Tesla only charger but i have seen several non Tesla vehicles there before. Which is the weird part that has me scratching my head about it.

I can experiment with my gen 3. I thought the “Tesla only” setting just kept the wall connector as it was from factory and the new mode to charge non-Tesla just removed the wait required for the handshake timeout.

With the latest firmware, selecting “Tesla only” for the gen 3 connector causes it to just show a blue light when connected to non Tesla. No charge with the adaptor - previously the blue light would be on for 15 seconds or so after connecting the adapter and then it would work (give up communication with Tesla).

Not only can you make it Tesla-only now, you can lock it down to specific Teslas.

Did you resolve the issue?

using my level 2 charger from traded in tesla, with adapter. IX had charged on it before with no issues. Now nothing. Tesla charger works on my other BEV so it’s not the charger or adapter. Tried reset already. Thanks.

Does the iX charge fine on other L2 chargers?
