If there's one thing this thread proves is that the general population likes and wants badges.

I even debadged my 911. None of my cars have anything other than a roundel or crest etc.

Saw this earlier last year. Looks like someone had already called them out on it according to the fingerprints.

People just like the //M badge. They want to look cool. Its also an easy mod. So its safe to assume, they wont know much about real modding lol.

Honestly I think debadging is the right idea instead of adding random logos lol.

My ‘24 840, the lowest level of this series has no less than 11 factory M badges on it.

I usually debadge my cars, but with this one you can’t get all the M’s off or it would look worse with little divots where the badges would be.

I’ve removed the X-drive and 840i badges, they were chrome and the only things chrome on this all black car,and I like the smooth look on the back anyway.

It kind of makes me feel like an “Mposter”, but there’s really nothing I can do about all those M’s other than tell people “it’s not an M car, it’s monogrammed with my last initial

One could argue that some people debadge as a form of "M-Posing", not saying this was your motivation, but when I see a 530 for example debadged and modded up with skirts and lips, I tend to think the owner debadged because he doesn't want you to know there is a 4-banger in there, or in your case, a B58.

I agree. For me and I’m sure others, the truth is I just want to buff my car without badge obstructions. And those chrome badges REALLY looked out of place on this particular car.

Btw, I am not ashamed of my 6cyl at all and correct anybody who calls it an 850 or M8 After four 8cyl BMWs that had nothing but troubles, I’m sticking with BMW 6cyls or even 4, from now on, all of my 6 and 4 cylinder BMWs were problem free for me

Oh I wasn’t saying that about you, but using the 840 as an example, similar to the 530 example having the smallest engine in the model line. The B58 is a great engine, I have it in my X5. I’m a glutton for punishment though, I’ve had a BMW with a “V8” since 1993, and still do. Some have been nightmares which greatly contributes to the reputation, but they are fucking beasts, especially the N63TU2/3 which is proving to be as reliable as the B58. Fingers crossed, but it puts a smile on my face. Effortless tourque and pull. I wish you went for the M850, but I get being burned on the “BMW V8” thing, a lot of the apprehension on the TU2/3 is somewhat ignorance and I mean that by definition of the word.

Funny, there was an identical (same color and options) 850 on the lot that day, the price difference was nominal (9K), and I drove them both that day. It surprised nobody when I came home with the 840.

I also am the guy who traded in my problematic F10 550 for an F10 528, and was perfectly happy and loved that car more than my 550

That’s funny, I chose my F10 at the time more based on price. I was in the middle of a divorce and I was paranoid about her lawyer coming after me for being excessive. I had been driving 7-series for the last 15 years at the time and as much as I wanted a new 7, I “settled” and downgraded to a 535xi. Thank god I didn’t choose the 550 which is really the car that gave the original N63 the bad rep and duly so.

F10 was an awesome car with the inline 6. So much so, I never went back to a 7.

There is a black E60 with an M5 trunk badge in Arusha, Tanzania that looks good with wider wheels and red painted calipers. The giveaways to the BMW aficionados are the lack of front fender side grills and the single side rear exhaust. I don’t mind the effort, though. I actually debadge my M cars to the extent possible, while leaving the stock badges on the non-M cars.

Here is the ultra rare, highly sought after M5 or more like M530e xdrive. Apparently the engineers in Munich have gotten so good at their craft that they can now combine race track performance with high efficiency 4 cylinder motors. I hope some day I can have 252 HP under my right foot.
