You can coach-build the interior as much as you want, but changing the electronics would be prohibitively expense even for a 400k car. If it was feasible, I am sure BMW would have done it for the 8er some time ago. |

Crikey, it has an actual gearstick and not only that but a dash with a proper binnacle and leather surround, mercifully free of a massive generic iPad ready to be smeared with fingerprints. Where do we sign..?!

Whenever these limited run productions of concepts come out, the comments make me believe that some of you are either obtuse or have no idea what the point is.

This ^ Kinda People aren’t acknowledging how complex & tightly packaged dashboards are - even though many have experienced how difficult changing 1 fkn cabin filter can be. While hard points & underlying crash structures can (& must) remain the same for exterior changes - every single dash panel a person can slam into in a crash, needs to be tested & approved. This old Rimac BTS video touches on this a bit (@ 16:16 mark), explaining how moving the HVAC a few millimeters can create a butterfly effect that can lead to suspension pickup points needing adjustment & so on & so on. Regarding the scoffs at the rumored 500k price tag - Bimmer knows there’s a Goldilocks Zone. It’s where they not only recoupe some costs but also create a car that’s seen as at least being “worth” said price. Would it get the same praise at a one-million dollar price point? Based on the dash, I’m guessing BMW isn’t betting on it. Last edited by SFBavarianArea; 05-26-2025 at 05:48 PM.. |
