I own a 2019 Z06 7 speed. I had to have a stick so I bought the last C7 year. It’s a really fun car 650 HP and a drop top. It has held its value incredibly well has 10k miles on it and worth almost what I paid.

The G29 Z4 is not a sales failure. It’s sold as expected for BMW, the roadster market is dead with the change to electric and sales overall.
The Miata (at much lower price point) sells like 6-7k a year and that’s with its RF/ST mix. A G29 Z4 plus it’s Supra sibling combine for about 5-6k in sales. So not a drastic difference all told. Add to it BMW makes 4 series convertible, 8 series, so there is some internal competition for a drop top. Yes the Corvette is the value king, it has the upper tier performance/history/desirability. Unfortunately C8 just doesn’t do anything for me (I’ve owned a couple C6’s) C8’s are EVERYWHERE here in coastal SC, it’s a common car. I enjoy the rarer Z4 ownership cause it’s a great car, plenty quick, drives sublime, usable truck space and gets me combined 32mpg each month. As a GT roadster it’s a perfect street car. For those that want a manual the Z4 is there. The Z4 gets some flack for on track performance (not as good as Supra) since I’m a street driver that extra sharpness is a non issue but all the improved materials, less harsh ride make it a better place to be when not on a race track. |

That car won’t lose value at all. Last manual generation vette with the size of its fan base means there will always be a buyer. I had a C6Z06 for a few years, had no problem selling it even during the 2009/10 crap economy.

The Z4 is a hot vehicle. I think it's a great buy; it looks great. I like it better than the BMW Zupra and the Boxster and the Miata, that's for sure. Z4 is so much more original. I would love to pick one up in a manual transmission. They have a matte green with the brown interior and 6MT in stock. I have too many cars and am not sure if I want to let go of any of my current rides for the Z4; otherwise, I would love to pick it up. I don't like that they are discontinuing it, but I guess everything niche has to go extinct sooner or later. If it comes back in hybrid and electric, it won't have that same appeal for me personally.

Cars are meant to be enjoyed and expected to depreciate. I wouldn't worry about gaining value on factors that are meant to bring a smile.
A $75-80k loaded Z4 with a manual may depreciate to a $30-50k value a few years down the road with some miles and use. That's no too bad compared to some other luxury vehicles, especially when you enjoy every time you use the car.

I don't care about the depreciation hit, I love my PB&J manual G29.
