I hope they make this in .380, it sure would give me some extra confidence in the round....

This projectile could actually solve a lot of the problems with the .380 ACP. Everyone talks about how the HP's are likely to clog, or won't feed reliably, etc. However, the real problem with .380 ACP is when they DO work; they don't have enough steam to get good penetration on the target. A lot of .380 hollow points stop short in this category penetrating only 6-10 inches. That's why I prefer ball ammo for .380 self defense. This new round could eliminate that problem though since the trochars separate from the rest of the projectile, which is then left to behave like an FMJ and penetrates effectively. It's a "best of both worlds" sort of thing.

That said, if people say that current JHPs have trouble feeding in their guns (I have never experienced this) then this one might not do so hot on that front either...

Yeah these rounds could make your typical ruger lcp, s&w bodyguard, or the like, a lot scarier! I have never had any feeding issues with Hollow Points in my Bodyguard .380...

I think that the whole ".380 feed problems" thing is overblown. People looking to hate on the caliber and such.

Yeah me too, I always run Hornady critical defense in mine, and I have never had any issues, the rubber insert in the hollows may help them feed...

^ It looks like it's going for a premium, but thankfully not nearly that expensive anymore at least.

Ammo has already been tested and proven to be nothing like they say on their Website. The Truth about guns did a review...

I was pretty impressed with the videos though, as far as I'm concerned those were pretty persuasive. The camera doesn't lie...

Listen to this man /\ and read the review on them.

These are a complete waste of money. If you want to stop someone, buy some JHP's and move on.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/201...ing-phase-one/

For about $2.50 a round, I can get 100 JHP's for a little over half that price per round.

I just read over the review, and I still want to try these out myself.

Ballistic gelatin doesn't die.

Hence why I stated there is no proof that these work better than hollow points.

Ditto, i'm not giving up JHP until all the LE agencies make the move. Those videos are far to sensationalized for me to think there is anything legit about the ammo.

G2 Research’s RIP Ammo – Ballistic Testing, Phase Two

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/02...phase-two/

Final Summary:
"In my opinion, there’s no advantage to the R.I.P. in terms of penetration or vital organ tissue disruption, so the only real area of discussion would be in terms of the initial “trocar” damage cavity. If you’re choosing between a conventional hollowpoint and the G2 R.I.P., the only thing the R.I.P. adds over a conventional hollowpoint is that initial, shallow “trocar” damage cavity."

I just meant that still want to buy these to have some fun out in the country testing them out on a few watermelons etc. I''m not saying that I'm convinced enough to switch my carry ammo out in my EDC guns.
