They call it basically a 'Rolls Royce' and note how massive it it (it is!) "Least efficient" is not shocking, like a V12 760 vs any other similar ICE (in that group) would be on the trip. If they were ICE, the Tesla and Ioniq6 would be a Camry and an Accord. These comparisons are kind of annoying in many ways.

Well, Mr. Conner, which is it? He starts his sentences a certain way, then ends up in a completely different place by the end of the same sentence. I love this car. I hate this car. It's the best car! It's the worst car! I suggest the reviewer has some mental issues. The problem isn't BMW. The problem is idiot morons like Kyle Conner who spew all kinds of useless drivel because they, themselves, don't know what's important to most EV consumers. I don't know anyone who would care about cross-country charging performance or time. Nobody I've ever met does this, except crazy EV people who have chips on their shoulders and act like they have something to prove. What I got from this video is that there are some crazy people doing crazy things that don't matter to anyone. Last edited by NomoTesla; 01-08-2025 at 10:17 AM.. |

Your both right and I fell asleep watching that and never finished but I did watch the last few minutes about the i7. I will say for the price of that i7 it should have first in class everything including charging. You make the perfect car only to skimp out. They should do better, would that stop me from buying the car, probably not but what you put into the i7 eventually trickles down to the less expensive models. Just my thoughts. |

Mostly agree with everything posted here. No one buys a 7-series for its efficiency. A Citroen 2CV can top the 7-series in that category. But charging speed is certainly something that should be better. Not that the 7 is bad with respect to charging speed but it could be better.
KC has always been fairly biased and it's very evident from the gushing praise of cars including the i7 and iX while also ragging on them. Both aspects of his points (if you have the time to sit through his videos) have their own merit but like anything else, as an individual, we need to make our own assessment based on the provided data.

If one's use case is cross-country road tripping in the most efficient and fastest manner, no, the i7 is not a good choice. For that I'd use a cheap, base model Tesla. This is why the iX is perfect for us. It gives us a spacious and comfortable SUV, good efficiency for the size class, and easily handles 800-900 mile days without any charging issues. Besides, I can't handle more than that without needing an overnight break.
Speaking of overnight breaks, the Fairfield Inn & Suites includes free, 6 kW AC charging with its rooms. Last edited by NomoTesla; 01-08-2025 at 07:16 PM.. |

But the i7 is extremely comfortable, and its front seats are more comfortable than the iX for me, with much better massage. And with the exec rear seating, I’d rather be in the back of the i7 than the iX. To me, it’d be a wash. And I’d rather spend 3-5 days in either over any other car. (FWIW I had an i7 loaner for a week and took it on a 600 mile road trip)

That is what he triggers, and so, some people will conclude this is the car I want because comfort and lux are important to me and range / fast charging not so and for others … by playing both sides of the fence he triggers different groups. His video’s are to long and I do not always agree, but he really goes in depth and makes sure everyone gets their priorities highlighted … |
