Highly recommend Schlage Encode Plus with Apple Homekey so you can ditch carrying around other physical keys too. Replaced all our older smart locks at home after picking up my iX.
Fantastic, much appreciate the recommendation. I don’t even carry keys on me bc I have been relying on garage access with an unlocked door into the house. Have been meaning to upgrade to smart locks at home. Makes it easier for kids w Apple Watches too.

Still annoyed the 2025 g80 didn't switch to digital key plus (just why bmw?) so I could ditch the key fob.

Also not a fan of the tire repair kit, but mainly because mine leaked all its goop in my trunk a few months into ownership.

Regarding Digital Key Plus as the July 2025 changes mean only 1 key fob, not the standard two these days. Hopefully BMW and Apple play well together going forward when an Apple iPhone or Watch is replaced doesn't cause issues with repairing the Digital Key Plus.

You have to eventually embrace technology, as I never use the physical key when Digital Key Plus works (meaning pairing is successful).

This is how the Service Card works, as the NFC enabled card remains in the vehicle deactivated until activated.

the situation with the 4 series i4 grilles on that photo is just embarassing. Not because of the shape, but because of this mismatch of graphics, intakes, etc. What a fk.in mess.

The i4 M60 has the same hp figure as the i5 M60, which means BMW will likely introduce a new range topper for the i5, an M70 with 650hp & 1100nm of torque.

And when the phone is dead you will get stranded. Or you drop it...

Nothing wrong with a key or better, the digital key card which is very convenient.

That is completely untrue. Don’t fear-monger.

Even with a dead iPhone, the NFC chip will continue to work for 5+ hours. If I lose my iPhone, I have my Apple Watch. Highly unlikely I will lose both. Ya know what’s more likely? Losing my car keys.

Nothing wrong with ditching a key, but if you like unnecessary things in your pocket – by all means go for it.

You were the exception to the rule. I will never forget the Chevy salesman who wanted to sell me and my dad a Classic Capri, aka a Caprice Classic. And I’ve experienced way more BMW CAs who knew almost nothing about the BMWs they were trying to sell than CAs who were thoroughly informed and competent. It’s more than I can comprehend how this can be a person’s job and the thing they do every day yet they know almost nothing about their product.

Because it’s more about the conversation and connection then product knowledge like 90/10% most people know what to buy nowadays. Most people do way more detailed searches online with the free access too.

I paid ~$600 for my last key fob and I'm still fuming.

You give people WAY TOO MUCH credit!!! The average consumer comes in with very little knowledge about any particular car and even less regarding a choice of cars. The average consumer is absolutely nothing like the average Bimmerposter and probably less than 1% of CAs even know that forums like Bimmerpost exist.

Maybe true but majority of people don’t care about every little thing product knowledge piece. More so, does it have safety features, CarPlay/Android auto, comfort and color selection. The people that ask more about the products are the ones that have done most of the researching anyways.

I see it everyday on the BMW pages on Facebook. People order these cars and know nothing about the car or the process. Yes, there are many informed people, but they’re all on this forum.

The people that aren’t on this forum and are only on Facebook, are ordering cars and don’t even know what port their car is at. They know nothing about, or have never heard the term, “port installed options.”

“My SA (and its CA) is telling me that my car is coming this week and it went from in transit, to back at the port. Are they lying to me.” No, they’re not. You just don’t have a clue what’s happening, because you’re ill informed.

I had one argue with me when I told them that they could track the car on the app (if you’re in North America.) and I was told that their SA told them it wasn’t an option to track the car, online and that they tend to believe the salesman over someone that just had a car delivered. I had to upload screenshots.

Then dude posted a week later that the cat had 19 miles on it, and that it’s a brand new car and should come with zero and he wanted to refuse delivery. The mod saw my frustration, and made a smart ass comment to him and then locked the thread, saying everything I said was correct.

Mine had 12 miles on it when I picked it up. I doubt you’ll ever get a car made in Germany with zero miles.

Driving from the plant to the transport truck, then to the ship, off the ship, and then to the USA transport truck. Some miles are bound to accumulate.

My car had 19 kilometers and I wasn't particularly happy either knowing most locals had half of that or less. Someone had "tried" it, absolutely. I also read about a happy weirdo who received a car with 40 kilometers as "new" though. My previous car of a French brand had 2.5 km when I saw it at the dealer's and almost 4 when I received it. I don't remember how many my first car had.

Plus most hit a rolling road as they come off the assembly line and do some miles there to confirm everything in the drivetrain is working as expected.

Will the Parking Assistant Plus updates noted here be available for older vehicles via a software update?

My 2025 G20 with iDrive 8.5 has Parking Assistant Plus (5DN), but unlike the same option on my wife’s X2 (but with iDrive 9), it doesn’t show the spot that it will park in.

I’d be thrilled if that could get patched in with a simple software update.

AFAIK the G80 is on the SP18 platform and doesn’t support UWB. You need SP21 for DKP since it supports UWB.

I'm not familiar with the platforms but did that change pre-lci when they moved from idrive7 to idrive8? Or are they independent from one another?
