It was already announced by BMW in the release notes that this would not be available in the U.S., Canada, and a few other countries.

As I understand it, this is a result of EPA requirements in the US. The EPA requires official range testing in the "default" mode (the one the vehicle is in when you press start the first time). If there are multiple "default" modes, then testing is a lot more complicated for BMW. So (from what I understand) BMW generates EPA range estimates in Comfort mode.
This from Perplexity...

So, it looks like everyone in the US got the 03/2025 update pushed to their cars today. I got it today as well. Downloaded it to my phone and got it transferred to my car in about 15 minutes. Will install it later.

In regards to sync I was playing around with it. It does stay in sync (get it .... maybe or maybe not) when you activate it and adjust the temperature and fan from the driver side. When the passenger side gets touched it de-syncs and removes the toggle. That's what I found out playing around.

The app never notified me of an available update. I had to go to the car and search there manually which then located the update, and then the app notified me. I have downloaded the update to the phone and now have to wait until I drive again to install it. Meanwhile, the Tesla app just notified me of an update there. One press and it's downloaded and installing currently. Yikes BMW really needs help with OTA updates...but at least they're trying.

Mine updated without an issue. No longer does my door Auto Unlock while in my garage when I walk by. That’s a plus.

I have not checked out any other of the updates.

Correct - once downloaded on the phone, it takes less than 5 minutes to upload to the car (phone in the car, car on, parked), then maybe 20 minutes for the car to install it (you'll get the install notice when you turn off the car). If you do install it when parked, it's a really good idea to park somewhere a flatbed can get access to the car easily.

This has been the case for a while. The problem is the rear seat reverts to Very Low fan speed and 72F, regardless of what the front temp(s) are/were at. I will never forgive BMW for the SYNC bug. i4, X1, X2.....SYNC still works as it always did! BMW is just too stubborn to fix it in the iX, new 5, new 7, X5, X7, etc...

I wish we knew why some are having no problem with 03/2025 OTA and some are getting the battery warning, blocked OTA and a mandated service visit.

Since 11/2024 OTA landed my car in Service for days....I have no idea if this will be the case for 03/2025!

Also, I do not love my dealer. They are not "bad" but for sure not tech geniuses!

Got mine yesterday, had some problems connecting Bluetooth and WiFi, the WiFi would just disconnect after a few seconds every time. Then tried the alternate option of Android Auto, which immediately started the transfer while I was driving. Got home parked, installed update after about 20 mins. Not sure how I feel about going through the app instead of just pushing the update to the car, I had a Mach E where update just goes to the car and you get notified when it is available and when it’s done. I can’t complain about updates though, my previous car was/is a Fisker Ocean, lol 😂

Has anyone gotten this that was still on July 2024 revision and could not update to November due to the 12v battery “issue”?

I got the update notification in the mybmw app today. That’s relatively fast considering prior updates would be released to owners over months.

Disappointed about the neutered geofence feature. Some next level German engineering to limit the feature to lock. Also don’t understand why 8.0 iX are not included. 8.0 came with the geofence to auto roll the window down. I mean really!?

Interesting thought. I do have an Apple wireless/MagSafe charger that is connected to 12V USB adapter plug. The only other thing I can think of is OBD Bluetooth that is always in the OBD connector.

So Tesla can do it and BMW can't? I find that difficult to believe. The iX's startup mode is not Comfort, default startup mode is the inappropriately named Personal Mode.

Teslas allow you to start the car in a different mode?

Basically my car was staying on for about 12 minutes (not the screens or anything, but the buttons were lit up) and the tech said there were tons of faults where it attempted to shut down and saw voltage draw on 12v / usb. Now that I unplug the radar when I get out, the car is DEAD dead asleep in 30 seconds. Updated fine yesterday.

Raised hand here! I could not get the 11/24 update to install due to the “low 12V battery issue”, finally gave up and waited for the 03.25 to land.

Now the same issue with 3/25
