I will jump on the bandwagon and say that I want the performance to be a little better.
The technology is available to make an all electric car (or even like the volt to have a small gas engine running a generator) with great performance. Look at the Tesla roadster. Take that car and give it a long range like the volt can, and I would be thoroughly impressed. That being said, I still believe burning hydrogen fuel in an internal combustion engine would give us a far greater improvement in technology without a rapid departure of how we transport ourselves. |

I don't like the "wings" on the back of it. This thing could be a great opponent to the R8, if they did a proper engine in it. Overall I think that the design is nice, up until you get to the b-pillar. After that it just falls apart IMO. However, by the time I'd be able to afford one the 2nd generation i8 will be out so my opinion doesn't really matter.

I love EVERYTHING I'm seeing from BMW these days. I'm still not over the decision to have an X6M though.....
Secondly, I can't believe nobody cleaned off the snow near the end..... I feel bad for vehicles left covered in snow. haha

First BMW i8 Spy Video - 2/8/12
Here is the very first spy video of the 2014 BMW i8 production prototype, giving us the first live motion look and listen at the upcoming i8 hybrid sports car. Also confirmed in the video is the retaining of the gullwing doors as seen on the concept i8 car. The prototype's sound is extremely rough at this point, but will surely be refined and tuned over the next two years of development.

For sure this will be an awesome car
A great project, just curious to see how it will stay near 918 Spyder and how these great manufacturers see the future of the sport cars |

It is rough. But the i8 has a development timetable of around two years so there will be plenty of time to get everything at optimum.
One thing about the i8 is that it is fast and equally nimble even though its drivetrain is worlds apart from the competition it will be like no other sports car and like no other BMW. This is the opportunity for something new and that is what the BMWi brand and the BMW i8 aim to deliver. The Concept car looks stay but especially around the front there is now more operational intakes , the floating body structure remains giving the i8 its striking "nothing else like this" appearance. The wheels on this prototype are simply for testing - The real car will use productionised "aero" wheels from the i8 Concept. The door skins made of CFRP cannot sadly be adapted to follow the concept with glass skins. But they are working on applying a film over the CFRP which can be specified unpainted. Which gives the doorskin a smooth glass-like finish which brings the concept to the production car without incorporating actual glass. So people can actually think that the area is all glass just like the concept that awed them.

Concept.... Futuristic? Yes I can't agree more that the concept idea is very nice, but the exterior is just poorly designed IMO. I think BMW can do a much better design (hopefully), I am sure Audi's E-tron looks way better than the i8, and the E-tron has the originality of Audi's styling (mostly from the R8). To me the i8 just look too SyFi.
