![]() The consideration is whether or not you think it’s worth it to spend $6-9K on “enhancements” to a car that isn’t yours or that you have no intention to keep beyond the lease term. Ceramic coating mainly makes a car easier to clean and wash, so it really helps the person washing the car on a regular basis. If that’s you, it might very well be worth it. If it’s your regular detailer or an auto wash, then you’re really paying to make their job easier, or, worse, the auto wash could actually negate the polish and coating work. To get the same shiny finish that a coating offers, a polish and wax from time to time is also a great alternative and 1 coating job could cost the equivalent of 3-4 polish/wax jobs. Most people see coatings as a way to avoid having to do more frequent polish/waxes. PPF is a much more costly undertaking, and it’s great for protecting the original paint finish, but also expensive to replace if you need to repair a panel that’s been covered. Probably worth it if you own an expensive car and want to keep it for a long time to amortize the cost. |
