I would absolutely love a performance Mazda3 but this is sadly not going to happen. Mazda is too small and won’t take any unnecessary side steps.

Not feeling that exhaust setup. Maybe it looks better in real life. I think a tri-tip set up like the LFA would have looked better, though I have no idea about functionality.

I would love a performance version of the new RWD Mazda 6 with the inline six engine they are coming out with. But it would need to have a MT, and I doubt they would have one.

That's not coming out any time soon, if ever now.

I have no love for Toyota, no love for hatches, no love for AWD vehicles... and yet the Corolla GR reminds me of 'the good old days' with the Evo, with its front and rear LSDs, selectable power split, etc.

I've actually called dealerships to put my name in!

Well, they aren't plastic wheel arches, like the WRX. This looks a lot better than the WRX IMO and hatches are super practical at the same time.

I really want to know what Tom Doll was thinking as he sat at his desk this morning and I'm sure was made aware of the feedback from the GR Corolla and how completely opposite it was from the new WRX reveal.

Sure, sales is what matters. But nearly unanimous praise and excitement combined with sales is a whole lot better than sales alone. Subaru has some work to do on the WRX after this reveal, whether they want to admit it or not.

Some exciting options from Toyota should be celebrated.

This, plus the Yaris, the 86 and upcoming Supra…w/ manual options across the board is frigging awesome esp in todays market trend towards electrification, SUVs, and automatics.

I'm hoping more manufactures will have a couple of manual-ICE sports car options available for consumers offset by 80-90% of the cars in their stable offering hybrids/electric Powertrains w/ automatics.

I agree this isn't the most attractive car out there but, as mentioned it's significantly better than the type R civic, Golf R, WRX. IMO It's def going to cannibalize sales from these manufacturers esp if it's in that $30k to $45k price range.

Case in point, even though the new M3 and M2 are styled like crap (worse than Toyota IMO), lots of respect to BMW for offering two manual ICE options for those that want them.

I don't see dealers marking these up to more than a loaded Supra AND getting people to pay it.

I'm sure they will try and if there are only 1-2 allocations per dealer they will probably get it.

can't believe they are charging markups for these. i'm on the 86 forum and it doesn't seem like there is much ADM there, just long wait times.

but i can also see there being a bigger demand for this having 4 doors, awd, and better engine.

Only $10k over for a Corolla? What a steal! Plus dealer fees. Plus rust proofing and ceramic coating. Plus a tracking system. Plus the bend over fee that we just decided to add on for good measure.

I'd rather go find a mint condition Focus RS...or Golf R or Civic Type R. Corolla is down the list of hot hatches.

Corolla had a bespoke motor, available mechanical diffs and fixed caliper brakes, none of the others can claim that.

CTR likes to over heat
Focus RS likes to eat head gaskets
Golf R has the goofy MIB3 and mine burned and sank.
