How realistic is getting 10-12% off MSRP these days?

I've been shopping around and I can get about 8% off MSRP. The dealers are all raising up scare tactics that i3 production will end soon, existing inventory is scarce, and BMWNA is going to gut incentives.

Depends on if you believe them or not. In the end it doesn't matter if inventory is scarce or if they are GOING TO gut incentives. If the car is on the lot, they want to sell it. If the incentives are in place, they are still in place. They will try and maximize their profits, so the same tactic applies. Call all the dealers and have them compete for your business. My past two i3's both had the same 10-11% discount and at the time not every dealer was willing to give that much off. Most were saying 6-8%. But with enough competition, there was always that one that's willing to get your business.

I guess I spoke too soon. A dealer I visited over the weekend followed up shortly after I made my post. They came back with a better offer that ended up being around 10% off MSRP. Too bad I cant pull the trigger just yet.

This deal is insane. I’ve been looking into 2020 i3s and the best deal that I could get is $370/month including tax, $2500 down on 10k/36 months.

Pretty base Rex so it was 49,295. I debated soo much between Bev and Rex, i probably would have gotten well equipped Bev at this msrp but i just wanted to have additional range. A big change for me from M4 cs to i3 rex. I envy you have both

The i3 REX I was looking at stickered around $52K. The dealer offered around 10% off MSRP before incentives, came out to around $123/month for 30mo/10K with about $6K drive off. This was their high-level offer and I didn't dissect the deal too much, but eventually reverse engineered it:
  • $2K below invoice before incentives
  • $3K loyalty and $7.5K lease incentive
  • $1K OL Code
  • Buy-rate MF
  • 7 MSDs
  • $3K down payment for the CVRP and SCE rebates
  • Acquisition fee residualized
  • All other inception fees and taxes paid upfront

It looks like SCE will end the EV rebate at the end of the year. A state rebate of $1500 will replace it. The good news is that it's applied at sale, the bad news is the dealer needs to be enrolled in the program. I'm checking with a few CAs to see if they are interested in signing up.

Ended up pulling the trigger on a new 2020 i3 REX. I ended up spamming a whole bunch of dealers with my offer. Some didnt want to play ball and some countered offered. Settled on $2K below invoice. I put $3K up front in-lieu of the SCE and CVRP rebates that I would get back in a few months.

Year, Make, Model, and Trim: 2020 BMW i3 REX, Tech Package, Giga World, Moonroof
MSRP: $54945
Selling Price: $49290 (incl. $500 OL code)
Monthly Payment: $100
Drive-Off Amount: $7K (MSDs, $3K down, tax, title, acq fee, etc.)
Months: 30
Annual Mileage: 10000
MF: 0.00047 (0.00082 buy-rate less MSDs)
Residual: 59%
Incentives: $7500 Lease Credit, $3000 Loyalty, $1000 i3 Lease-to-Lease credit

Good deal, Capt Slow!

I’m looking to purchase i3s.

Have received several dealer quotes.........none included both 7,500 incentive and 3,000 loyalty.

Seems like they are not playing straight with me?

They probably just need to be hand-held.
  • Offer a price relative to invoice prior to incentives(ie. $3K below invoice)
  • Itemize all the incentives you want to use
  • State your lease term and mileage. 24mo is generally good, but I need 30 months qualify for the CA state CVRP rebate.
  • Demand buy-rate MF
  • Declare you will be putting down 7 MSDs
  • Offer to pay all the inception fees upfront
  • Research what state and local EV rebates you qualify for and add that into the deal either as cash down or point-of-sale rebate
