Protecting plastic door sills
Anyone protected their plastic wide door sills as prone to getting scraped as you slide over?
I’ve removed mine and in the process of wrapping them in clear film. I’m also doing the small insert piece in carbon fibre wrap so will see what that looks like against the genuine stuff! I originally ordered the self healing PPF film like Xpel or suntek but the guy told me that it won’t stick to plastic especially as also slightly textured. I’ve therefore ordered the cheaper vinyl clear wrap instead that will stick to most surfaces. This might wear but I guess you can replace and it still protects the plastic so does it job? Lots of colours and options but restraining from being OTT! |

I fitted it myself, which was a bit of a PITA because of all the curves and angles, if you've not attempted wrapping before, its probably not the best thing to practice on! |

Both look great imo and much better than just black plastic!
Double win as protecting and looks great. Well done guys. The clear on mine makes a marble effect which I think looks ok so long as protects well. I wrapped the insert ok but different vinyl than the clear stuff that stretches well in heat but wouldn’t fancy doing that awkward shape using the carbon wrap as creases easier. If anyone trying it, def a two man job! Will try an upload pics below. |

Do those two pieces just pop off with a trim removal tool?

The small piece just pops off from its clips. I didn’t use a lever tool in the end, I managed to grip a corner and pull it off. The larger piece has 5 screws to take out and then pops out off it’s clips.

Looks great CebM4, did you wrap yourself? Small piece was easy but bigger bit has lots of curves and the vinyl carbon effect isn’t as easy as the clear film that stretches easier.

ah gotcha, now that earlier pic makes sense with the glossy black film. Saved.
