Seat can crack windshield?
Seen on Facebook in the BMW i8 group: it looks like the seat can actually touch & crack the windshield??
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/t31.0-...53013428_o.jpg Is that correct? Can anybody test (gently!) and confirm that the seat can indeed touch the windshield? |

"Just be careful" => tell that to the 5 y.o. kid who would sit in the back. Considering how regularly his toys gets broken, I'm sure he wouldn't be more "careful" with that rear seat

So a responsible parent would pull the seat forward for the child and help him/her out of the car ? I wouldn't let any of my kids do what they want in my car.

I'm confused as to how a padded headrest can crack a windshield. If it can do that, what will it do to your skull in the event of whiplash?

Well that's why I asked: I'm getting conflicting answers here. Some people say it doesn't reach, some people say it does. I don't have an i8 myself (yet) so I cannot check.

I Will check, but from what I have seen so far from the very few times I,ve pulled mine forward, it does not reach.
Maybe if the seat is pumped all the way down, before it is slid forward ? Either way, you,ve got to be a bit of a knob to crack your own windscreen with your seat ! |

Perhaps when the seat is all the way up and then you fold it and then push the seat forward it would hit. In my M4, if I did that and I wasn't careful, it would break sun visor!
I am fairly tall so my seat is all the way down so mine probably won't touch the windshield. I would try for you guys in my i8 but the lack of memory seats makes it a No-Go. I would spend a week trying to get back to my perfect position if I moved the seat lol Last edited by Ghetto2315; 10-17-2016 at 08:05 AM.. |

I set it forward as far as it would go (both settings) and tilted the seat forward, it was no where near the glass.

Once the pad is compressed there's hard plastic/metal/fiber underneath...the seat is meant to stay ridge and not deform in a car accident, it can handle an electric motor pushing it into the windshield.
