Blower motor going bad on bmw i8?

I believe my blower motor is going bad on my 2015 bmw i8.
My heater and AC both still work and blow out properly however, when i turn my heat or AC on at any speed a LOUD buzzing sound comes from behind the dash on the passenger side. When I shut my heat or AC off, the noise goes way. Has anyone else had this sound or issue and was it the blower motor? or did you find it was something else?

well it seems its my ac compressor- when i looked under the hood, the noise and vibration is coming from that. AND thats not a cheap bill. anyone else with AC compressor issues with the i8? my heat and AC work still just fine and the noise only comes on when i turn any air on, whether its heat, ac, defrost, etc.

My advice is take the car to BMW and have them confirm it’s the compressor. Replace the compressor immediately.
If the compressor completely fails there is a possibility of shrapnel entering the battery cooling system and then you have a huge expensive problem. 2014 and 2015 cars were more prone the compressor failures. The later cars had an improved design. When they replace your compressor (if that is the problem) they will install an upgraded version.

Bmw is looking at it today and they think it still might just be my blower motor because everything works fine still, my heat is hot, my AC is cold! - and noise only comes on when I turn on any air- not just my AC. But we shall see by this afternoon. I may just have them replace my compressor anyway because it seems what I read on the 2015s it’s not a matter of if but a WHEN when they go and I’d rather replace now at 3k then 18k!!!!

When… not if. I believe is the correct assumption.

I replaced my AC compressor about a year ago.
$2741 parts and labor.

My 2015 i8 has the same issue - scheduled to go in in January to have the compressor and dryer replaced to the tune of about $ 5300. Painful.
