We have proven we do not need a Supercar at this time and the new M4 will further that statement. In a world where our competitors are electrifying existing concepts BMW have proved to be more innovative and more creative in their choices.
I have watched some of our competitors completely scrutinise both the i3 and i8 this afternoon and they are concerned , really concerned.
One abandoned this idea in favour of an electrified current sports car that will not make production and both are quite distant from the benefits of mass volume CFRP in a volume production model.

In 2 years time the all new BMW 7er which heralds an all new aluminium,CFRP mix architecture , CFRP body panels and high tech driver and passenger HUDs using the latest ConnectedDrive innovations will be the most technically advanced production BMW ever.

Today is more than a special day , its a day that BMWs leadership has effectively transformed the perspective of mobility. Today everybody shows where the market is at .

BMW want to show you where it's going...
AMEN! Well said Scott26, haters are always gonna hate, especially when they know that this car is above the rest.

jesus christ what the the actual F is up with all these whiny ass comments.

bmw makes probably the most modern and innovative looking car out there and then its too expensive and only rich hipsters will buy it, its missing angel eyes, bla bla bla. who cares? they actually made something that belongs in 21st century but ooooh no, a bleedin 335 will get em further on a tank of gas... yes, until you go to limp mode for nth time, whatever. its not the pooint. its the right car for the times.
I agree!

This is a mainstream car with mainstream dealerships, not a tesla or fisker.

This car makes sense to the audience considering an M5/M6 or a Porsche 911....but gets
Considerably better mileage.

I think in a few versions I would seriously consider this car...this new platform will have a Ton of bugs.

BMW struggled to get my 335i right in MY'12, I ain't making the guinea pig mistake again for awhile!

For 130k i would have expect the same design with A LOT of power around M5 or M6 standards with a small electric engine for some hybrid features, but definitely not an amazing design with a POS engine and features, i dont care if it has LED or laser headlights, what use is that for when you look fast but can get smoked by V6 mutang or camaro
I agree with you, but as I see it; this car represents what the original M represented back in the day. It is a new thing and for sure something awesome should come after when this idea matures inside this company that creates our wonderful toys.

+1 to the 100000000 degree!

Truth is, this is actually 4 year old tech, this car was pretty much set in stone when it was originally shown. Can you imagine what the next gen version of the i & M cars will be like with the lessons that were learned from this project?

This car is UGLY imo......Im trying to like it but its not happening at all.

Where in the hell are the Angel Eyes??
The blue matte color pattern is horrendous and tacky.
The wheels look like they should be in a Kia!!!

For $135k and it has a 1.5 liter engine - are u kidding me???
You got new Corvette with V8, Audi R8 with V10, MB SLS, Porsche 911 Turbo.....Petrol engines are not going ANYWHERE!

Look at BMW and Lexus Hybrid models sell at low #s for luxury automakers. This thing will not sell.

People that buy supercars are enthusiasts.
Last time I checked a tiny 3 cyl supercar doesn't sound exciting.

If this had a Lexus badge - ppl would crap all over it.

Hell yes!!

Honest to god - I'll bet some of the posts in this thread are direct echoes from horse owners seeing the Model T for the first time

Have some vision people - jeezuz!

BMW is going to sell each and everyone of these they make and rest assured this technology will waterfall down in some way to every future BMW vehicle.

Prepare yourselves for electric, lightweight M cars...It's coming

The amount of fake engine noise that BMW is going to have to pump through the speakers on this one is going to be epic

I wish we had a proper super car to compete against R8 and SLS but at least we have something. Before this, all we had was M6 which is an awesome car but it's basically 6 series on steroids, not a sexy stand alone car like R8 and SLS.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I think i8 looks better than R8 but R8 is no slouch at all even after almost a decade.
However, i8 looks like an Audi with the headlamp LEDs so it might as well be an Audi.

Do you realize that you're the one that keeps/kept us excited with M8, M10, M100 super car coming around 2016 rumors, right? now you're saying what you got us excited for is nonsense?

And are you honestly saying M4 is sufficient and makes it redundant to have a proper super car? M4 can perform better than R8 and/or SLS (which it won't), we still need a proper super/sport car.

I do absolutely love(d) the i8 concept. Something completely new, something completely different. Until I saw the Audi lights. I'll still like it just because I'm a BMW fan but my patience is wearing out. A decision not to make a proper super/sport car and replacing it with i8 (i8 itself is an awesome concept, but it shouldn't make it redundant to make a proper sports car) and a genius decision to start a revolution and coming out with the incredible i8, with signature Audi design. SMH....

I appreciate your updates and insights but you always just try to blow off complaints and feedbacks from real and loyal BMW fans on this forum that are against the direction and/or decision BMW is going to

For those asking about the lights... They could not put them on as the tech is not legal in the US.

Well to be precise, I would say that it was horse and buggy owners who might have been upset about the Model T...

Plain old horse-only guys should have been haters of the motorcycle, since that's our modern iron horse, but I digress from the point of this thread
