Model 3 $30k before tax + fees and incentives will become $22.5k after $7.5k fed credit, and that price sounds OK for the build quality and range of a Model 3 base.
There is no $30k Model 3.
Model 3 base is $44k with a delivery of Oct if 2022.
https://www.tesla.com/model3/design#overview

Tesla has increased the price of base models in anticipation of federal tax incentives and delivery times are out at Q4 for base models.

Tesla does not want to sell base models.

So Fisker Ocean deliver next year is still a better buy and likely to have better quality with Magna building it.

Correct, hence Model 3 base, at its current level of build quality and ranage, is not at the right price points for me.

In other off-topic news, it's looking like i4 M50 is among the least-efficient EVs on the market:

Big fat tyres on 20" wheels and oversized motors aren't really great for efficiency……who knew?

in looking at the data and how the formula's are derived, it appears as though it was based on this review (and only this review), whereas other cars he used multiple data-points available:

They were literally driving rather aggressive in this review, so it doesn't surprise me

This is the formula in Column L where he's using a weighted average =(S70*U70+V70*X70+AA70*AC70+AE70*AG70+AI70*AK70+AM 70*AQ70+AR70*AV70+AW70*AY70+AZ70*BB70+BC70*BE70+BF 70*BH70+BI70*BK70+BL70*BN70+BO70*BQ70+BR70*BT70)/O70

^^those colums have hyperlinks to the reviews that were used. The M50 was based on a single sole review.

That's crazy that these ratings would be based on one review. I like Bjorn's reviews, but one review does not a rating make. I'd sooner go by EPA ratings. At least everyone is on the same footing there.

It’s actually a major benefit that the sheet takes into account so many variables, and even better that it will be updated as more test results become available.

can't wait to see more tests from it so more data gets loaded.

It is nice to see on the WLTP that the m50 is rated at 317 miles though (510km) in range though. Give me some hope between BMW's 245 - 270 mile range that isn't even EPA rated but only a preliminary estimate.

I have a feeling we will be surprised in a good way, but that's me being overly optimistic and rooting for my soon-to-be vehicle

The German cars do have a history of being conservative in their range estimates. The difference between the stated range of the Taycan and its actual range, which is much higher, is huge. The same can't be said of the Teslas of the world where range estimates are just a pipe dream.

Not a fan of the technica websites myself.

I can tell you that the least efficient EV will be whatever one I'm personally driving. Matt Damon is still more efficient than ICE!

Do we know the default start-up settings are for the M50? that would matter ALOT in range test cycles that are published....

For example:

Default: ecopro + high regen braking would product better results vs comfort + average regen braking.

Something tells me BMW programed it to default to Comfort drive setting and average regen braking which would be what the EPA and WLTP cycles would use.

I'm hoping there is a one touch way to go into the power boost mode, for those spontaneous moments. Like an "M" button. Definitely don't want to go through screens. Even the "sport" mode on the i3 could be easier to access in my opinion. Reaching down, toggling the switch while watching the screen could have been a simple one touch "sport" button.

a few Euro real world test drives out recently. One person reported est 420km on a full charge driving in 5*C @ 198km/47% remaining. 19" wheel'd M50. That's 261 miles of range on a full charge.

That's some hope, and the picture taken was on the expressway :-)

I do wonder if BMW will offer a power package kit via OTA software option? Asking because of the iX M60 model being estimated aroud 600hp, seems like the motors could possibly have some headroom?

The questions is why? The power for the i4 M50 is fine.

I don't disagree, the power is plenty and speed video's thus far shows it on-par with M4cs videos from 100-225kph, a car thats been known to trap 121-123mph in the 1/4 mile stock.

but nice to have options in case the speed junky in me needs more.

I think most BEV buyers do compare performance among BEVs rather than ICEs.
