Good jobs with a Bachelors degree?

Im in college now and not 100% sure what I want to do. I would like to make over $70,000 a year but I'm sure everyone does though. I want to be a car salesman and eventually a sales manager but its not a great time for that. Just name suggestions!!! Thanks!

I don't think many college graduates start at $70k.

I wish I had gone into nursing. I have 3 different friends who went into nursing; one of them works 2 days per week and makes $60k/yr. Another works 3 days per week in maternity and makes $70k/yr. Finally, a 5 day week nurse making over $110k/year.

Me? I work 9-5 Monday through Friday pulling in just over $45k/yr. Now, who got the crap deal? They went through a nursing program that took 2 years to complete. I went through a 4 year university. Go figure, eh?

I'll edit it for you.

I say go for something in IT. Not a lot of jobs start off at 70k. I'd say most jobs that start off at 40k will take you about 15yrs to get to 70k. My .02

I want a degree just for a back up. You don't need one thing to be a salesman. Just want to play it smart. Eventually making $70,000+

What do you recommend? Don't throw me negative comments without followed by a positive. Come on now.

i wasn't trying to be negative, i'm just saying that a car salesmen is not really something a college graduate should aspire to do as a career. it's a very hard job with long hours 6 days a week and little guaranteed pay. the only person that makes the good money at a dealership is the owner. what's your degree in? the way things are going with the economy right now, health care or government would be solid places to start looking.

Just Gen Ed right now. any specific jobs? I love talking about cars and feel I could be a pretty good salesman. Ive read that a lot of salesman's make between 70-90k if there good and other 30-45 if there not so good. Thanks

you don't go to college to become a car salesman. You go to college so you don't have to be one.

This was told to me by a few sales people I know.

The best way to make good money right out of college is to have connections. If your relatives or friends can get you a plush gig you can make a good deal of money right out of school. But if you don't have connections and have to rely on the market to find you a job, well you are looking at about half that amount starting, assuming you can even find a real job and don't end up waiting tables or filling people's orders for venti-mocha-chinos.

They make pretty good money. You just don't know what it is like to be one. It is not easy at all, and you will be stressed out all the time. If you don't sell a single car one month, you don't make any money that month. Why go to college if you just want to get in the car biz?

Hah! That was true 20 years ago. Now you have to go to grad school, graduate and have 5+ years of experience in your field to get a decent job. College degrees don't get you anywhere anymore. Even if you are top of your class with a degree in math and have a couple of good interviews lined up with insurance companies to become an actuary you may not get a good job at decent pay. There are too many people with a whole lot of experience out of work for a college grad with no experience and no connections to get a good job. Good luck out there.

Doing some research and figuring out what you want to do for a living will held you fix a game plan for getting a job in that industry. It will also help you figure out what extra schooling you need to get to the top of that industry.
