Front Plate Options

Has anyone installed front plates on their MY23 yet? I asked the CA about installation and he mentioned they install on the front end with "some required tweaking". Not certain I will fancy any experimental drilling or anything into the grill or any points on the front end. Especially if the sensors may be impacted.

I did some surfing and found two options. Other companies offered for MY23, but have been sold out.

1) RHO-Plate V2. This company only lists compatibility up to 2022 G26.

2) Platypus Mount for 2020-2023 BMW 4/i4 Series. This US based company lists for 2020-2023 BMW 4 & i4. But while many purchasers will not normally provide reviews on the manufacturers site, I could not find any MY23 G26 i4 owner reviews.

This is a front plate required state, am thinking of purchasing one of each for the tow hook location in case one does not work out. Both ballpark $100-125 or so new. Need to go to dealership try to compare tow hook locations between 22 & 23 models.

Sorry everyone, believe it or not, my forum search feature finally started to work. Found a couple of references including on from europeanstyle plates. I doubt it, but if the euro style turns out to be legal here, I may consider that route, if not looks as though the tow hook options will be the choice. Have a good day.

I got the Rho plate v2 with the drop down extension. Works fine on my 2022 i4 eD40 M Sports. There is no difference on the front bumper for the i4 between 22 /23 MY so it should work fine.

I have the RHO-Plate V2 on my 2022, and it looks and works great. I have DAPP and PAP and neither are impacted. I can't imagine there being any changes with the 2023 model which would impact the use of this.

Over 20 years of living in states which require it and I just leave it off, no issues...i use zip ties for the annual inspection.

Absolutely. I have it angled to match the angle of the front end, otherwise it looks really awkward.

I figure the actual tow hook plus some zip ties through screw holes should get the job done with a bit of tweaking.

Indeed. Probably will never happen though. I almost never run a front plate anymore. Just for ugly vehicles like our Forester.

I've gone with the "I'm going to occasionally get a ticket" option.

That'd be a pain in the butt while travelling and possibly have extra fees. I've managed to go ticketless for over 8 years now.

TorkLift Central mounting option

I just picked up an i4 xDrive40. Living in a state that requires a front plate, I reluctantly probably should install it. I saw some options in this thread do not require drilling. I did not see this one though, wonder if anyone else has tried it...

That's actually a nice looking option. I've bookmarked it, thanks.

I reached out to the company. They are working on a version that will work with i4's equipped with DAPP. I am waiting to hear availability. They sent me a link to a video showing this new version (not sure if in final form)...

They have the final version out. You can order it from there web site. They sent me an email yesterday. Unfortunately I drilled my bumper last week to install the front plate holder that was in my trunk.

The company emailed me last night also confirming the latest version is out. The wait time though is 4-6 weeks. I ended up doing the same thing and having the real license plate mount installed.

I am considering getting something. Been driving 6 months in California hoping I don't get pulled over.

Bozzmount from Slybrackets

This is what I use.
Does not interfere with DAPP.
No drill, does not use tow hook, very secure, almost flush with the car.

I'm not quite sure why folks are worried about drilling holes to attach the front bumper plate. BMW dealers do this routinely when requested and if I decide to put the front plate on I'd probably go that route.
