Was set to pick up my i4 x40 tomorrow and just got told there's a stop sale because of this recall

U1x Gx - Coolant Changeover Valve



Hope this doesn't take too long to resolve.

Anyone else get caught in this?

Current Recommendation
Check for coolant leaking from the changeover valve PN 9462114. Activating the EKK may show the changeover valve actively leaking. For cold temperature markets (outside temp below OF). After replacing the changeover valve, put the vehicle outside in below freezing temperatures and recheck the next day to ensure the vale is not leaking (new valve check).

I spoke to my rep a short while ago who simply said they are on a full stop of all i4's and can only wait for BMW to tell them what to do. He did say that they've got a bunch of i4's they need to move and because it's the end of the month, they think BMW will be quick about a fix.

This is helpful as I've been waiting for over a month for a fix on my 2024 i4.

Am in the same position. Mine is sitting at the VPC. I found out before my Sales Advisor did. When I told him (and he verified), he said it ruined his day. It's evidently a STOP SALE on All BMW EVs.

if it's a stop sale on ALL EV's then you have to think they'd get it fixed ASAP.

supposedly there is a new part (right now this is internet guess/myth) which is what people are waiting on. several had the part replaced with the same version and leaked again some have not.

main cause (maybe correlation) seems to be pre-conditioning (cabin) when the outside temperature drops to or near or below 0C and the car is parked outside.

decided to call BMW genius and they had no answers (sounded like i had more info than they did) in case anyone was hoping they might.

I had mine for a month before I had to bring it in for a drivetrain malfunction. That was over a month ago...

just got a notice from my dealer that if i sign a waiver, they'll let me take the car. i'm not so sure this is a good idea with temps likely to be low in the northeast over the next several months

Are you sure about this? I was under impression that if a car has a stop sale the dealer CANNOT legally sell you the car.

Did they say it would be stuck at the VPC? I’m in the same position at Brunswick port right now since 1/21.Haven’t heard back from my broker or SA.

got to the dealer on wednesday. i was scheduled to pick up tomorrow and got a call this morning about the stop sale. spent all day on forums checking on it and got a call at 6pm about this letter.

still decided that i'll just wait until next saturday (dealer is an hour away) and hopefully they actually get the part to fix it before anyway.

i will be garaging the car so it should be ok for that. but during the day when i'm at work, its outside for 8-10 hours so could become an issue.
