One of the most innovative cars on the planet regardless of what you might think of it.

You'd have to sit in it and drive it to even begin to understand.
People hate what they don't understand.

Their comfortable with boring and normal.

I pity them.
I don't. They just don't know what they can't afford or are willing to try and learn something new. It's a completely different driving feel and experience altogether it feels like the new way of travel like those futuristic air tube rides of the future.

Sure,
I have my analog cars my turbo cars ( twin and single ) and I have my all electric i3 ,
yes I also own a 48v golf cart too
but they are all different and totally cool each and every one of them as individuals and driver feel
Each in their own right. But I like the fugly i3.

Don't hate. Participate.

The worst rating is "Poor," yet it received "Good," on most tests. And, on the test shown in this video, it received a "Good" -- the highest rating. "(T)he driver's survival space was maintained very well." That's "brutal?" Thanks for the misleading post, though!

yes.. because the way to " take on " Tesla is to bring product out in a different segment and also bring it out before three or for years before them...

if you insist on believing that this vehicle and a Tesla model three are in the same category... then... Tesla is a few " laps down" and has a lot of catching up to do ..

I have an i3 BEV. The original lightest weight model. And it is one of my favourite cars to drive.

Nimble, rapid around town, and silently surprises almost every car on the road at the traffic light GP

This is NOT in the same Market Segment as Tesla... period.

Leaf, Prius, Bolt are the competitors.. That is all.

I think people automatically assume i3 competes against the Tesla (a segment higher) because its a BMW which by default blows its true competitors away. Its really in a league of its own when you look a the entire vehicle architecture.

As mentioned before, the competition (not just in the compact EV segment, but all Vehicle Mfgs)) is playing catchup..

And when the day comes you can just mosey on down to the Tesla Store and walk away with a Model3 without reservation/waitlist, only then will you be able to compare it to i3..

An amazingly contrived statistic to eliminate Tesla from the "numbers".

- Tesla doesn't make a "premium compact" unless maybe the Model 3 qualifies and THEN you have to take into account all vehicles sold since 2014 (and the Model 3 is very new)...
haha! classic statistical story telling. Sort of like watching ESPN and they're trying to qualify certain "feats" in sports as 1st ever with a bunch of qualifiers... first since the live-ball era with raised mound on a rainy day inside a dome in game 1 of a Wednesday night double-header.

I apologize for my ignorance as I was misinformed on the i3 and its "segment." Care to explain its competition and what gives it the competitive edge?

One thing is for sure though, I will 100% prefer any Tesla. Power/performance, technology, range, and safety are not even comparable to anything on the market, and it will only get better for them.

quick question, when you buy/lease a i3, does it come with a either a mobile plug (turbo cord) or a EVSE setup?

I presume they make you buy them all separately? Also, what's the NEMA plug head for these items?

Reason I ask is, I'm looking to buy a used i3, and not sure if I need to be looking for one of these to be included. Will it be on the build sheet?

They come with the Occasional Use Charge cord 120V. Very similar to what comes with all the other EVs (my Volt came with one). Or you can purchase the Turbo Plug which is also portable similar to the OCU charger, but also works with 220V as well as 120V.

I only use the "occasional use" cord provided when bought car new at dealer. Car is driven daily twice at least and commutes two ways here locally in la. Works fine overnight 90+ miles on the clock every time. I do have a fast pass also provided by dealer at new which I can "level 2" ( 220v ) charge anywhere for little to free.

But this can also be used for instance:

Bit I prefer oem always on these things

Same here, occasional use every night at my house is plenty for my daily 40mi commute around Orange County.

Your ChargeNow card should also work at the DC Fast Chargers (level3) in the network. From 0% to Full SOC in 45min easily

yes I agree, it makes a lot of financial sense for a city car. I'm looking to get into a BEV for $15k or less...
