The Ideal Ticket Thread

As we continue the tradition of 2 circus shows for the election of our highest office, I thought this may be a good respite for the ongoing crap show. Here is the question:

Who would you select as the Ideal Ticket for the presidential election?
Rules:
1. Actual people, still alive. One foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel is acceptable but not Ideal. Think Ideal.

2. Tell why.

Here is mine:

Condi Rice - President.
Dr. Bill Cassidy - Vice President.

Condi Rice is one of the best minds our country has to offer and is respected by nearly everyone on both sides of the aisle. She has unparalleled Foreign Policy experience and contacts while being strong domestically.

Dr. Bill Cassidy is a physician who has worked in the Charity Hospital System and Public health systems in Louisiana before becoming a Senator. This experience and understanding of one of the largest and most important sectors of the economy make him a strong and logical choice. He knows where the inefficiencies exist in our current systems and has the knowledge and connections to offer realistic and actionable solutions.

I can’t give you names but I can add some criteria I would use.

I’d like to see someone who has extensive experience working with the legislative branch, but still has leadership vision. I would eliminate McConnell, Pelosi and Schumer because in spite of their legislative experience, I think they all lack the ability to really set and pursue an agenda of their own. And they suck.

Ideally that experience would be federal, but someone who has recently served as governor of a state that had an opposing or split legislature and got things done also would be qualified. But he/she would not know the Washington people and have the relationships to “hit the ground running”.

Unfortunately this eliminates Condi Rice, although I have great respect for her. If she had a very strong VP who had that experience (McConnell??) perhaps she could be successful.

I would also like to have someone articulate who can speak to ordinary Americans (Blazing Saddles: “You know, morons”) and the elites with equal and high success. And I’d like someone who projects a sense of decency and decorum; statesmanlike. Tall order these days.

Pres: Kevin Faulconer, Mayor of San Diego. In touch with the neighbors to the south, worked well in spite of drama throughout San Diego, turned the city's financial/retirement around. He's registered as R, but could conceivably be called RINO. In this case, I don't think it's a pejorative. Aware and working on homeless situations. He might be a bit green on the foreign policy front, but that hasn't stopped a few recent presidential cabinets.

Not sure who he would pick as VP though, it's been a few years since I spoke to him personally.

Interesting question--to make it even more crazy and outlandish, could it ever be possible to have a ticket with a Dem and Repub? Obviously would have to be ultra centrist to push the extreme sides out. Just a thought.

So I wish you wouldn't refer to this as a circus, there is a big difference. A circus is a cunning array of stunts......

President: Colin Powell

VP: Selma Hayek

This. Someday the general public will smarten up and demand this. Just not sure if it will be in my lifetime.

And maybe someone willing to suggest that laws have expiration dates that require periodic review/renewal.

I could see filling in the bubble for Condi.

I still want to see the Castro brothers as Pres and VP so they can play all of those twins pranks from early 90s movies.

How about a Glenn Danzig Henry Rollins ticket?

ideal ticket is a mix of a just right of center rep and just left of center dem.

unfortunately, even in that situation, nothing would get done because of parties with one holding more power than the other.

Should just get 3 presidents, the reps get one, the dems get one, and an independent one. watch how quickly shit would get done. all 3 have to vote, no lazy ass non voting politicians allowed.

I'll go with Kasich as President and Pastor John Mckinzie from Hope Fellowship here in McKinney. Good guys.

Though Condi is a hell of a choice also.

I'd like to see Ivanka Trump as a VP in the next republican ticket. Condoleezza Rice is an interesting pick...but she seems to have had enough of the political spotlight.

As for the pres, who freaking knows, at this point the "extreme right and left" are swinging the pendulum so hard, I wouldn't be surprised with anyone at this point

Of course, me as president, Alyssa Sutherland or Gal Gadot as First Lady.
I could see a lot of time at camp David, lots of warm nights there.

Oh, VP? Maybe Dennis Miller? Tony Romo? Dan Crenshaw?

Romo as pres would be great, but he has to give us play by play of meetings.
