Mine goes to bed before me (obviously) and puts herself to sleep in my bed Some nights she’ll sleep in her room all night and I’m sad

my wife is the same way.... she gets infuriated when our daughter comes and kicks us around in the middle of the night but the rare night she doesn't come to our room, my wife starts missing her.

Yeah i'll judge. Kids should be on their own bed by 6 months old. CO-sleeping hurts their sleep, hurts the parents sleep, doesn't give the parents a break from parenting so to speak and imho begins driving down the road of a lack of independence and relying on the parents for everything.

My 2c no one asked for.

We set the rules very early on with my twins. The dogs were here before you and they get first right of refusal to sleep in the bed. Guess what, my kids don't get to sleep in the bed.

I kicked our daughter out of our room by 5 months... But once she transitioned from a crib to a toddler bed at around age 3, she has had the ability to escape and come to our room every night at 3am to terrorize us.

Yep, at which point we used a combination carrot/stick to make sure our second one stayed in his room (the first one was easy, loved his room). In the end, if he came in our room i'd dock him screen time etc.

I see 7, 8, 9 year olds with their parents so it gets out of hand quickly.

Mind you I am at total odds with most parents my age, just had one whining about a troll being "too scary" in a story (remote schooling) for 4 and 5 year olds. I literally turned on the mic and suggested the story was fine and maybe her kids needs more exposure if she can't handle a troll in a story. FFS. Then yesterday, local park, what seemed like a 4 year old was being held going down a slide with mummy giving relentless praise on how brave she was.... for...fuck's.........sake. Raising a generation of absolute wieners.

No fighting for space with the wife. Onnce you get a King bed you can't go back. That being said, the dog does try to take my spot in bed from time to time

No, have a massive king and she is tiny. More than anything she just always wants to be in contact, which is fine other than when she moves around a lot and keeps me up.

I get it. Most of you have spouses, I don't. I enjoy the company of co-sleeping which is why I don't mind it. She's never once slept in her crib. She had a basinet next to my bed when she was born and I transitioned her into my bed when she was about a month old. I don't move in my sleep and it has worked out for us. I do wish the flopping around like a fish would stop, but all kids do that. When she wants to sleep with mom, she knows she can call my name in the night and I'll come down the hall and put her in my bed or she can simply put herself to sleep in my bed.

I'm sure this might have been different if I had a spouse.

At what age do they stop asking you to hold them? We're starting to have a physical issues here. Momma can't carry her heavy ass around all the time.

my daughter wants to get held when she is tired and we are out. At home she gets her blanket and lays down on the couch. She is 2. My son is 5, we stop holding him before he turn 2.

I guess I'm 5.5 years over the limit. This past Saturday. All the children are seated while mine insists on being held.

No, she'll be 8 next summer lol. I can only hold her for so much longer. She's going to weigh as much as me soon.

I hate to say this, but you're the problem, not her. Fortunately she's not handicapped and can walk on her own. Let her know if she wants to be held like a baby, that she'll be treated like one. That means wearing diapers and eating in a high chair.

I think there's a softer way of doing it than that, and that's coming from me!

I'd try "big girl" avenue first, as in "you're a big girl so big girls can make some coin doing chores and can sleep in their own bed". It's like adding a bill to legislation at the last minute hoping no one notices.

My son slept in our bed until about 11.

That's why we had a queen AND twin Tempur-pedic, because I couldn't sleep on a cheap-asz twin after having slept in the queen.

These days, since my wife uses 7 pillows of differing sizes and content, I often wake up with half of me outside the blankets. I keep my robe near the bed and can cover the other half with that.
