iDrive Resetting - Pay for update or replace Head Unit?

Hi

I've got a BMW i3.

The DAB radio started to drop out frequently.

Then the iDrive started resetting every few minutes.

I tried removing all personal data as recommended by some.

Now there is permanently 'no signal' on DAB.

The unit keeps resetting still, losing saved stations now too (which it didn't before I deleted data).

I've been quoted around £200 to update the iDrive software which 'may' fix it.

Question is, would I be wasting my money and should I go straight for a new head unit?

Thanks for your thoughts!

It sounds almost like the problem I described a few posts down.
Coincidence that it happened pretty much at the same time?

Thanks. Yes, I've had issues before which could have been software related just appear and then disappear again a while later.

Interestingly, the issue hasn't been occurring today.

Lots of reports worldwide over the last week or so of constant idrive resets in older i3s. Apparently an issue on BNW’s end, now resolved.
