Wheel option of M50 omitted on BMW website

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I went on the BMW USA website to build my I4 M50 and just noticed that I could not find the 20" wheel option that was offered a few days ago. I don't know the name of the wheels but they were the ones that lowered the driving range. Is there a glitch in the configurator or did BMW eliminate that option?

Just checked and you seem to be correct the 20" wheel option isn't there anymore which is odd.

I don't think it really matters at this point as the configurator hasn't been flipped to 2023 yet. I don't believe they are building anymore 22's. If the wheels are missing when they switch to 23 that would be very interesting.

I guarantee this is the issue...my '22 build that has been flipping back and forth between order received and production scheduled for 3 months now just got migrated to a 2023 model, and I have a build week again, so, they are definitely only building '23's now.

What's your build week?

There are some odd things going on with the configurator right now. If you click on eDrive40, it only lets you select the M Sport trim and not the basic Sport trim. The only way to kick it back to Sport trim is to select an exterior color only available for the Sport.

I suspect BMW is in the process of updating the configurator for MY23 which is leading to the issues.

At the same time, I also wouldn't be shocked if BMW removed the 20" wheel option as I suspect they aren't very popular given the meaningfully reduced range you get with them, but that's purely just speculation.

It definitely isn't discontinued. It's in the 23 ordering guide. As you stated the probability is high they are in the process of updating.

I looked again and saw the wheels are used in the performance package.

They say week 31

For those flipped to a 23 you better check your build to make sure they are building the car the way you would like before it gets locked in. They screwed up my configuration but was able to get it changed.
