You are wrong actually. I am selling my current Ferrari, to be replaced by the i8. And considered the 458 as the replacement choice.

So it is more desirable to some of us.
IMO whilst I'm (only) slightly skeptical on the power to cost ratio the i8 is probably the best looking car I have ever seen
(followed closely by the Toyota FT1 evo and McLaren 12C)

Power to cost ratio? Seriously? That is a measure of a car?

You could probably find 100 cheap cars that will exceed all the cars you mention, and the i8, using a measure like that

It looks great, drives better. IMHO of course

That's not the only measure obviously! However if I were spending 100k plus on a car the level of power it produces would be a serious consideration for me. Mind you the i8 is a road car and has stacks of puff under 100mph and that is all you need really.

Do you want a car that is every kid's wet dream (insert random Ferrari) or do you want something that is genuinely unique?

I'd pick the i8 every time.

I just got a quote from my dealer here in Australia... $299,000.
The only thing sillier than the price is that I'm actually considering it

Wow and I thought we had it bad relative to the Americans That's £167,000.

On the plus side, that just means it will be even more rare in Oz
