Wtf! AND a dealer fee as if the markup wasn't enough.

Thankfully dealer/processing fees are capped at $250 in my state, which I think is more than sufficient to cover the 30 minutes or less it takes their finance associate to print off a temp tag, register the vehicle, and electronically file your tax as paid.

Capped at $250? Wow that is really cool. I've always said that the dealer fee is the dealership's owners salary.

This. Very this. BMW Encinitas does the same thing.
Hey I ordered my 335is from BMW Encinitas! Then again my salesman left the company, so I'm not sure what it's like now...

Why anyone would pay that much for a car that slow and performs so poorly compared to stuff at its regular price let alone 100k more is beside me.

I'm not sure I agree with the premise of your question. Perhaps the problem is with the word ""performs."

I'm tickled pink that i8s are going for so much. Makes mine more desirable. I do acknowledge that dealer greed is disgusting. Don't know how to stop it short of price controls.

All the dealerships are marking up 100k, pacific BMW is the same. The i8 allocations are based on a bunch of factors like how many Audi R8s are sold in area of the dealership which changes the normal competitive forces. Also anyone paying this markup obviously could give a shit since insurance will only cover the cost of the car - i.e., you're self insured ... at least for the $100k.

$250k is how much the buyer made in 10 minutes passed out drunk. They're more concerned for the bragging rights of a limited production car.

Why should the dealerships not price what the market will bear? Lowers the cost of an M4 for me.

The only reason this is even possible is because some fool actually paid a hefty premium (maybe not 100k, but even 50k is insulting), as to empower the dealership to find another fool willing to do the same.

If someone is willing indeed to pay that premium, that person has a lot more money than brains...

Like many others have stated, I wouldn't pick this car at anywhere near 150k, much less further north of that.

And if I wanted a badass looking hybrid super car, it would be the Acura NSX.

I hate Irvine BMW with a passion.
+2

When the x5 F15 came out the San Francisco BMW showroom had an MSport I wanted. They had a $15k Market Adjustment (lol).

That very afternoon Sonnen in Marin called me and let me know they just received an MSport. No market adjustment.

They'll have my business for life.
