Next generation BMW 3-series (F30) on the drawing board

Well, believe it or not, BMW is already working on the next generation 3-series just as the new facelift E90s are coming out.

The 3 series accounts for about 44% of BMW sales, so suffice it to say its important and BMW has to get it right every time. BMW is taking its cues from the CS concept and will incorporate both dynacism and elegance all in one.

BMW will also go headstrong with their EfficientDynamics push with the 3 series and are planned to downsize the engine size across the board with increased use of turbos to keep the power levels high.

The next generation car is said to be revealed at the Geneva motor show in 2012.

I can guarantee that the next 3 series will not look anything like the photo above. BMW hasn't even decided on the car's final design yet.

it's a photoshop for those that keep on thinking it's some sort of potential concept. the headlights are from a facelifted e90 (but warped to have a general resemblance to an X6's), the lower bumper is from the F01 7 Series, and the rest of the car is from the current e90 with random things done to it like photoshopped molds in the rockers and tweaked side view mirrors.

and yeah, it's completely reasonable to believe that they're well underway at designing and engineering the next generation.

1) It will be well balanced
2) It will have endless throttle response
3) It will finally come with a working HPFP!!!

The last one is a bit tongue in cheek.

2012 reveal.. so I guess the 2 door would be out around 2013-2014?

and BMW will start using more turbos and smaller engines? so, are we going to see 2.5L turbo or 2.3L turbo as 325 and same 3.0L turbo for 335i (or 340/345?)

How big of an engine displacement do you think BMW will go for 3 series? (before, I have always thought 3.0, 3.5 is as high as it would go)

I pray to GOD that the new 3er doesn't have the ostentatious CS kidney grills. It's a total failure on the new 7er, i can't imagiine it to be on any other BMW lineup.

I don't know, the rear is looking too bulky =/ but hopefully performance will make up for it...
