Ordered my 2022 i3 Unique Forever

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hello,

Placed quite a special unexpected order today.
I am currently driving an Alpina D3 Biturbo ( F31 ).
After having tested tons of cars: iX3, i4 M50, Model 3p, c300e, ... All cars seemed to lack a bit of entertainment for me. Also, I'm not doing a lot of commuting anymore, so I started looking at small EV's.

So why not look at something cheaper, to cover the coming years in, that's affordable to buy and run.
In came the Mini SE. Cool car, drove really well. That was going to be my next purchase. Until my dealer proposed me a I3 Unique Forever edition. That car was so cheap, compared to a mild custom specced i3, it was almost a no brainer for me.

So today I ordered the I3 in the following spec:

It's a limited edition that has the 20 most specced options on the i3 in it's lifespan, things like:

- Leather interior
- Sunroof
- All kinds of sensors
- Navi pro
- Carplay
- ...

And a unique color scheme.

I was wondering: is there anyone who has succeeded in disabling the pedestrian warning? I know you can code it, to have it as an option in idrive, but can you also assign a shortcut to it, by using the numeric buttons?

Also: I am wondering if I will be able to attach my smallest child his seat on top of the middle cup holders in the rear. The distance between the inner isofix hooks seems virtually equal to the normal seats. That would be awesome.

Is there anyone who deleted the blue surrounding on the steering wheel?

I'm curious how living with my first ev will be.

The only difference I can see is the stickers on the grille, quarter and hatch. I think this is BMW just trying to get rid of the last remaining vehicles.

The most unique thing about the unique edition is the paint color, and of course good value for money for those who want a car with all the options.

I think it looks awesome. Is that Aventurine Red? I also like the grille graphics that play on the iX. Easy to code out the sound, check the other thread on here. All it takes is bimmercode. Still plays subtly in reverse and "idle" but gone in forward motion which is all I ask for.

Congratulations! Truly unique forever and nothing quite like it. Once you have an i3 it's hard to imagine not having one.

Congratulations! Super nice! Especially the special colors. I always wished they would do individual paint offers for the i3.
I'm assuming the one in the picture is not yours. Definately get the adaptive cruise control if you haven't already. It makes even 100+mile trips easy and relaxing

Congrats!!!!

I owned a i3 for 4 years.... It is a technology marvel... You will love the car... I really believe that the car was eliminated from bmw's lineup as it wast just too expensive to produce and dealers had absolutely nothing to do when service was scheduled... As an example I drove on the same brakepads for 70,000 miles....

Not sure what planet you are living on but I wouldn't call a 54.000 € car sadly specced, just because it does not have 2 options you mention.

I heard the adaptive leds are not even worth it, because old tag. high beam appears to very ON/OFF and not on par with new matrix leds.

More off than on in my experience!

Thats because there is street lights on 95% of the roads where we live.

I will say that the adaptive LED's I had on my 2014 F10 M5 was better.
That had moving reflectors or something, I could see the light beam move around, the i3 seems to have segments it switches on and off.
They work and I enjoy having the high beams on when behind other cars lighting up the roadside.

Just a quick question - the stripes on the side of the car, did you happen to notice if they were painted or stickers? They look like stickers to me.
And if they are stickers, do you think they are on top of the paint?

I have an order in for a unique forever in the red (and my best mate has an order in for the storm bay version) but i'm not the biggest fan of the stickers down the rear three quarters.

Would it be terrible of me to remove them? It's such a nice red and i don't think those stickers add anything to the car (for me!).

Kind of a basic question - how do you order one of these? I am thinking of getting this one as a commute car. I used to lease an i3 and one with leather seats and upgraded range sounds like a good deal!

On my order it was just a box to tick, the "unique forever" pack, however you need to find a dealer with some allocation because production is finishing in July and most dealers don't have any unallocated build slots left.

It may be a Europe-only thing. BMW USA doesn't even list the i3 or i8 as available models any more.....

Thanks verysideways and vreihen - I couldn't find any i3 on the dealers near where I am. Looks like a Europe-only thing.

Here you go. This thread has all you need.

It’s the best solution I’ve found. Quick, clean and easy.

You pickup your ride yet? Love the color!

Hey,

Yes I picked it up already, already a nice 600 km on the odo too.
It's quite frugal: we are averaging a 18kwh/100 km. If my wife drives it, it's more like 12-13kwh/100km.

I love the color to be honest. Very glad with it. It goes from a dark red to all sparkling shiny red in the sun.

The next mod I will do is replace the nose with the one on the i3s. I find it a lote nicer. it's the one thing that keeps me from thinking it's perfect.

For the rest, it just drives very well. It handles like a hot hatch, in my opinion.

There are some downsides tho:

- The doors need to be slammed, otherwise they won't close very well
- The seats have a high seating position
- The standard speakers are quite rubbish. I'm considering the bavsound mod.

Congrats on the new car! looks really good.

I typically average around 16kw/100km, can get it close to 12 if I make an effort.

I thought like you, getting a regular i3 with sport pack and install the "s" front bumper, the parts were cheap, about 500 euros.
But when I asked what an actual i3s would be, it was 800 euros more, so I got the i3s.
I know you did not have that option, just telling you that all new parts are cheap and can probably be done in a couple of hours at home.

Doors are a bit rough, my previous cars had soft-close, so quite the difference.

I like the seating position, makes it easy to get in/out of the car.
I find them lacking in side support and comfort on longer trips, but I guess this is a city car after all.

Speakers - I have the H&K option, they needed some time to soften up, I was quite disappointed with them to be honest, but after about 3000km of use they improved. Nothing like the B&O I had in my previous BMW, but not too bad and I'm ok with them now.
