Yes. And I have it on my Feb 2021 M340i, but because of the chip supply shortage, BMW have dropped it across the entire range for the rest of 2021 and probably 2022. Also extended bluetooth. My dealer confirmed. Worth checking with your dealer. I've already been told it will be missing from my i4 M50 order.

UK configurator suggests it's only available on a few models - the i range being one of those that still get wireless charging and enhanced bluetooth

Not in the USA, yet anyway. The dealer knows nothing about the i4 at this point.

There are loads of errors in the configurator. My dealer has confirmed it's dropped across all models. The one glimmer of hope he offered is it might come back.

When stuff like this happens, the dealer will have to inform am i right?
If i already have a signed contract with specs and price on it, they must inform that there is changes to the contract?
It should not be up to the customer to ask if something they read on the internet, where a dealer in a different country told their customers that they wont get the equipment they ordered and signed a contract to pay for..?

And in that case there should be some kind of compensation right? In my contract the only thing that can change without conseqeurnce to the seller is the price due to increased taxes.

I hope BMW USA is following the USA tax news. One of the potential problems is the base price of the idrive40 may be about $1500 too high to qualify for the $7500 tax credit.

EV tax credit is based on the capacity of the battery used to power the vehicle, not on the vehicle purchase price.

That's the CURRENT rules. If you look at the language of this part of the Green New Deal, there are NEW rules which if this portion is passed in any new legislature, it will be in effect at the time we take delivery. The cutoff for the $7500 is a base sticker price of under $55K and over 40KWH of battery. There is another $4500 to be had if built in a USA union factory (which I think there is no car that meets this except maybe the Bolt, Mach-e is made in Mexico).

I have not read the proposed legislation, but this is a simple product planning fix if as above (been there/done that for another car company). First, they find something worth $1,395 that is standard and relegate to an option. That gets the car back to $55k base. That option becomes mandatory if ANY other content is ordered above base such that you'll never find a true base car in inventory, although it does have to remain orderable for the handful that might happen, so as not to run afoul of the FTC. So, they have to find something for $1,395 retail that the plant can eliminate without too much hassle for a new base condition...maybe use a different and cheaper (and less attractive?) set of wheels.

Next step is to eliminate the M50 as a "model". The base car model name is "i4" and comes with a choice of packages, Sport e40, MSport e40, MPerformance M50, with all the content as in the current plan. Change absolutely zero about the actual M50 vehicle...just the product plan documents. Vehicle registrations show BMW as "make" and "i4" as model. As these steps are all packages off the base car, there is only one i4 base price at $55k.

The USA assembly is unreachable, but the above can preserve the $7,500 credit.

We get there when/if we get there. Otherwise, current EV tax credit legislation is still in effect.

I made my reservation in June and had an indication I could have it in March, but nothing confirmed as yet.

On a more amusing point, I received a quote for the car today, based on my configuration and it included £45 for 30 litres of fuel! Couldn't make it up!

Mine also had this. I made them remove it and to add a note that I want the car fully charged. They have no code for this yet, so have to do it for free 😁

It just clicked with me that the i4 is supplied with NON runflat tires. No wonder all the reviews say how good the ride is! I wonder if this change is for the ride characteristics alone, or you cannot get the weight rating needed in a runflat for this heavy car? I'm also guessing the rear has the height controlling air suspension due to the new displacement sensitive shocks. These need to be kept in the same position regardless of weight in the car to function as designed.

Probably went with mobility kit and Non-RFT due to unsprung weight.

Run flat carcases are heavy compared to the non run flat tires.
