same size, other brands - rear tires
I've been debating bigger rear tires forever. I was about to pull the plug, but decided to stick with the same size...for better or worse...perhaps i'm just whimping out lol.
Question is, sticking with the same size...what other brands would you recommend to consider? I'm just hoping to have something that lasts a little longer than the stock tires. Handling is important to me, and I do tend to drive in the rain a lot. Smooth, quiet ride is not so important. Thanks! |

put the same size rears on the front, as do most driving just with electric motor, as was slipping in the wet on a hill start.
fine. lots of previous discussion on widening the rears. worth looking back. changed to Michelin, much better. |

Thanks, yup I've read through all the very informative threads about tire sizes. I was ready to buy some wider tires, but the tire shop convinced my not to put the wider tires on the same rims. I don't want to change the rims, so I'll just replace with the same size for this round.
My lease is up in about 5 months, and i'm pretty sure i'll buy it out...but not 100% yet. Just can't find another car that checks all the boxes that the i8 does...ahh but that is another discussion. So, for now I'm just wondering about other brands to use. My fronts still have pretty good tread, so I'll just replace the rears for now. |

Any tire shop will go by the book.
If I still rocking the stock rims I would have gone wider front and rear. That's just me. Best of luck on your choice oEm size.

Tires make a big difference handling/performance wise for the i8. I do not mix, always get a full set. Unsprung weight is a priority, so not a fan of bigger heavier tires. IMO best option is 1) Michelin Pilots, 2) wider but lower aspect. 265/30 and 235/35.
But be forewarned: you will never want to sell your i8 once you get good tires on it.

The i8 tires and sizing are absolute garbage. Such a stupid choice to save a few mpg the car is perfect with wider tires and underwhelming with the stock tires. |
