Actual mileage range

So, visiting your forum from the G30 forum, as I currently have a 2019 M550i. I am considering the additional purchase of an i3, just to drive to the golf course 5 days a week (25 miles) and around town. How much actual mileage do you get on a charge? Charge overnight fully? Any problems with getting the charging station installed in your garages? Basic questions, I know....just seeking info. Thanks.

Ironically, I call my i3 the Bavarian Golf Cart because that's what it is in some regards!

My 2015 with the smallest battery pack sold does a real-life 60-65 miles in the summer, with four scheduled departure times running the AC before I get in.

It will charge up in 12-16 hours overnight plugged into a standard 120V USA wall outlet. Treat it like a cell phone, plugging it in when you park it in the evening and it should always have a full charge the next morning when you need to drive it. You can buy a faster portable charger if you have a clothes dryer outlet in your garage or even have a dedicated Level 2 EVSE installed, but you will probably find the included OUC cable in a wall outlet to be adequate.....

We have a 2018 and we get about 120 miles. The new 2019 models have actually a higher battery capacity so you'll get even more (I don't think they have changed the battery since then for 2020). i3 is absolutely the perfect car for your need and for around city. Not sure where you live and how much you have access to public charging but depending on this, you might be able to also get away with not having a charger installed at home. For example we have free charging stations at my work so I can easily plug it here while working. Or if you have charging at the golf club?

We absolutely love our i3 and our only problem is with the battery size and range. It's a perfect car for city but it will always be a second car. We've gone on 400+ miles trips a few times with our i3 but it needs a bit of planning to find DC fast charging and spend half an hour every 2 hours or so which can make the trip longer but still doable

Our 2019 i3s this afternoon hit a projected range of 166, some of our 140 mile trips need a 30 min rapid charge but to be honest, it's not a problem, just love the car

With no climate control and Eco Pro+, I drove 80 miles to Disneyland with 94 miles projected range remaining. 2019 i3s BEV.

Then again, that's why it's called a GOM.

Wow, never seen a 200+ mile listing. Cool. Real-world I see 120 ev range in my 2019 driving in Sport mode with AC on at highway speeds. The car will go from Pasadena to Santa Monica and back twice no problem.

It... depends. Depends on
temperature
speed driven
rate of acceleration
And, of course, model year (size of battery)

My 2017 (which has the middle size battery) can get between 85 (driven like a complete ass) and 180 miles depending on the above. Installing a 240v battery charger at home is no problem, and will charge it completely from 0% in less than 5 hours. The standard wall charger takes a LOT longer.

Check this thread.

As I mentioned in the link above:
2019 received a battery size upgrade so if anyone is looking make sure you keep that in mind. There’s other factors that go in to range (e.g. pre-conditioning) so be aware of what those are too.

I’ve got a ‘19 i3S BEV and I drive the car with no thought to maximizing range. ALWAYS in Sport mode - which doesn’t mean much really, just tightens steering and makes throttle inputs more sensitive. I don’t hammer it from lights but I’d say I drive on the quicker side in terms of acceleration. Full AC / full heat, not trying to be uncomfortable. I condition the cabin temp about 5-10 mins before leaving. I don’t have a L2 charger at home so I can’t pre-condition the battery.

Winter range - average about 115-120mi
Summer range - average about 140mi

And that range is usually with 10 or so miles to spare.
