I hate the blue around the logo and on the outside. I do thank them for the 3,200lbs but the electric range is crap. Tesla S would be my green car.

Plus I would not be surprised if they took the new M3 / M4 engine, which is an inline 6, cut it in half, strap on bigger turbos, and add an electrical engine with even more thrust and volllla... M8. |

If they can fit an I-4 in there, a V8 won't be much longer. Otherwise a V6 could work with current length restrictions. |

95mpg, pretty impressive.
Then looking at the engine, 231hp from a 3 cylinder 1.5L turbo engine. This is making me hope that the F8X will have 462hp . |

I like it very much. I'd like to see the final product in single color livery though. This multicolor finish suits the concept more than the series item imo.
Does anyone know if the Individual options will be available on the i models? |

However is there actually a super car project at BMW? (Loving the look of the i8 though, the interior is stunning, the whole thing is lovely.) |

BMW wins the looks department, but Audi just crapped all over the i8 with this:
http://fourtitude.com/news/Audi_News...furt-iaa-2013/ It's just a concept though and pretty much a pipe dream. |

Plus, one's a concept. I'm sure they'll both be interesting cars no matter how you slice it (provided this concept actually comes to fruition this time around).

true, the sports quattro does look extremely hideous..
BUT, the performance from this thing is just a knock out punch right in BMW's face, it shows that you can put a 560HP V8 and a electric motor in a car, and STILL get 31 miles of e-drive range. the price though, i'm guess 3 times more than the R8? now imagine the sound of V8 instead of the fake stereo sound of the I3 |

I don't understand why car manufacturers think their customers want a green car to look so dramatically different than most normal cars on the market. Yes, some customers are interested in something that looks very different to flaunt their eco credentials, but by and large the vast majority just want a green car that looks like it takes gasoline. I suspect the I8 will do just OK, but Tesla has a leg up in the green car design dept because I think they get this concept.

i think this car is getting a lot of shit mainly because of its I3 engine, relatively low HP, low e-drive range and skinny tires. but again, that's the whole point of being efficient and green while trying to go fast.
in my view this is a rather poor way of combining performance with efficiency. performance doesn't have to be nerfed too much for the sake of saving gas, and lets face it, 31 miles on electricity isn't really big news these days. with all that CFRP structure and the amazing looks, why not just go the NSX approach and put a bigger engine in there, let the total output break 450HP at least, have the option of providing road legal track tires...etc right now the i8 reeks of compromises, a meh showing of trying to make the best of two worlds the real killer though, is the price, at 125K USD please tell me why i shouldn't wait just 1 more year for the NSX(which might just come in at 110K) and go for the i8? |
