Honestly I think it'd be nice to know the income specturm E90 owners are in. If it's an anonymous poll there might be a remote possibility for approach realistic outcome (depending on maturity of this forum I guess...).

I mostly want to know, that if everybody makes 100k+ a year, then I should cancel my order and get a Kia or something...

It all depends on your own living situation. What are your bills? What is your age? Is leasing/buying this car going to severly hurt your pocket? Do you have high debt? You could be a doctor doing your residency earning only 45k living at home with no bills who will be making substantially more in a few years. In that scenario I don't think it is too irresponsible for you to get the car.

At the end of the day, only looking at your income does not mean you can or cannot afford the car. Every situation and person is different. It's up to you man. Don't get the car if it going to take away from your lifestyle.

Personally I am a very conservative person. I do not take on any debt that will take away from my savings. I get paid on a monthly basis and no matter what 25% of my monthly earnings go in the bank, or towards investments.

But thats me. I have gotten over my head in the past and don't want to ever do that again.

Now you're saying many prison guards earn the same? I'm gonna say BS. There's a big difference between someone who works for the State of CA in a prison and makes 200k as a doctor, and a guard. FYI the median salaray for a prison guard in CA is 67k, so use that number if you plan on a career change. Yes, there may have been two officers who made 200k, but in a state as large as Cali., I wouldn't say two is "many." And don't mistake an officer for a guard.

In fact, an article today in the LA Times details to what extent the prison guard's union runs this state's penal system. They choose wardens, they get paid so much money that no one wants to become a supervisor - they have to leave the guard's union and they make less money). They get so much sick time they don't know what to do with it, and now they no longer need doctor's notes when they are suspected of abusing it. Overtime costs have skyrocketed, their pay keeps going up higher than any other public employee, and if they are asked to work a shift due to someone else calling in sick, they get paid overtime, even if they have called in sick themselves.

im too lazy to search and paste a link but there was a recent article about boston police which is same to this prison guard article. apparently the average boston cop makes like 130k, not sure but it's something in that ballpark. and it's all due to union agreements that were terrific for the cops.

Avg. pay in Boston for police is 114k, and that's average. But think about it, they start at 46k base, it will take a while to reach 80k base, then 35k is overtime. Someone coming out of grad school can start at that at age 25. The question becomes do you want to make money by putting your life on the line, or using your brain and competing for resources? Either way is noble. The former is a really tough way to do it. The latter is a hard way to do it.

Having helpers is quite common in other countries--drivers, cookers, launderers, maids. It's only in the USA where its for the rich.
