The Bimmerfest forum is dead

I regard Bimmerfest as dead since Jon Shafer sold the site.

Yes. Bimmerfest is dead. Sad. Jon jumped on an ED thread on The Fest 6 months or so ago to chat a little. I could tell he wasn't happy how things turned out.

E46fantics?? OMG, who still rolls in an E46? I mean I love the chassis, had 4 of them (every variant including sedan, ZHP, coupe, convertible and M).

My nephew does. He's quite dumb though. I told him to get a steel reinforced plate to protect his sump. It'll be okay he said. Lowered it... and now topping up oil every few hundred miles.

I’m relatively new to BMW, but not the world of an auto Forum (Rennlist). I signed on to Post and Fest at the same time. I posted some basic BMW tech questions regarding my E70 and F13. On Post I would at least get a response in hours, and usually multiple. On Fest I would check, and the Forums would have no posts for days.

LOL i think bpost is all we’ve got now for every semi modern BMW or newer with any kind of following, except for the E46. And M3forum for the E46 M3. I don’t know what people who own older BMW’s like 2002’s do for companionship

I was one of the first members of E46fanatics, and returned there when i went back and bought an E46 M3. I couldn’t relate to anything, lol.

For me Bimmerfest' problem was it slowed down my machine so much I just would leave. Looks like they oversold adverts like so many local newspaper sites do.

There were quite a few really helpful people on there but not worth the aggravation.

Sad and unfortunate. I was definitely an OG over there and still post.
I actually attribute much of the exodus and lack of activity to the poor Moderators that have been the same for far too long. They pick and choose their favorites.

At one time, there were a few crazy of us on the "delete pls", a tread about nothing... We even had got t-shirts made up and were always trying to be the poster on the next 1000's posts... The tread was getting too big and they shut it down to re-open a new one... It was never the same after. A few of us remain connected on whatsApp... Only a few die hard are still there... I glance once a while but rarely post...

Harvinator. They's were good times. I often wonder what happened to all of the old crew - I lost touch with the last ones around 2005.

We also had DTMpower back then too...that was a massive forum.

I never made it onto Bimmerfest, but is that where all the Roadfly/bimmer.org regulars ended up? Those guys were more of the purists and thought that we were all dumb kids with stupid mods...the irony of being on that side nowadays never escapes me

And bimmer.org was the true OG forum...man it sucks being able to personally trace BMW forum history to the dawn of the internet
