OK, it wasn't specified in your original post, but based on the pics, you were making a right-hand turn? and you were taking that turn so fast that you ended up crashing into the left side of the street you were turning into?

Wow! Perfect weather. Smooth looking streets. These runflat tires are a bit' slick but....Sounds like a case of bad luck/timing.

Sorry to hear. Did BMW Assist give you a call after the airbags deployed?

You probably also got quite a few deep scratches from those branches on your side panels..

If you're OK that's all the really matters..

From the look of it you were definetly speeding and could of hurt someone else on the sidewalk. Good thing you didn't.

OK, then here are my thoughts:

1) You NEED some driving lessons dude. This month, there are a couple of local AutoX events here in Irvine (El Toro) where you can learn to control your car at its limits with minimal risk. Certainly much less than on public streets. Except when its raining, I drive my BMW with DSC completely OFF and I can handle it just fine.

Edit: Even if you don't participate, you can stop by and ride along to get an idea of what its like. Porsche Club runs this weekend I think and there's a practice I hope to be at on the 29th.

2) Be thankful you were in a BMW and that you're not hurt.

3) Be thankful you didn't crash into someone on that street, that you didn't injure your passenger who has no control in that situation, and thankful that you didn't crash into someone who may have been on that sidewalk.

4) BMW or not, I'd be laughing at you too if I drove by and saw that.

Yea, glad you're OK and the most important thing is that no one got hurt, but I hope this is a lesson for you. BMWs may be the ultimate driving machine, but they don't drive themselves, and even the best drivers can't break the laws of Physics.

==Shinobi. Not to hate, man, but those pics show you were clearly driving recklessly and out of control.

+1 when i have people in the car i dial it down a notch from my usual driving

and looks like that was totally your fault, thank god no one was on the sidewalk walking or a cycle want at the stop sign or anything

im surprised no one has brought out the "your a total tool for taking a corner at speeds you couldnt handle, let alone mid day when the streets are busy"

0 sympathy here

I feel he/she has learned somewhat of a lesson. Just remember, if you would have clipped 1 or a group of people and injured them, severe-death, it really doesn't matter. Your life would have changed forever, and not by any means for the better.

+1...this can hardly be considered an accident. YOU WRECKED THE CAR! I hope you get the difference?

I'm glad nobody was hurt. Any chance it is a costly enough lesson to stop it from happening again in the future? That looks like the sort of place somebody could have been walking any day of the week....lucky you, they weren't!
