BMW iX xDrive50 with 4WS and air suspension delivered
Just got delivery yesterday, definitely a very nice upgrade from my model s - a few things that are worse, but the overall package is fantastic.
So quiet. So comfortable (air and 20”). HUD is great. B&W is amazing. Best sound I’ve heard in a car (very close to my Genelec studio monitor setup). Looking forward to getting acquainted closer. |

In case anyone is interested- it’s possible to set another driving mode as default now , I believe it wasn’t possible before.

You've always been able to set any modes except Sport and Efficient as defaults. Has that changed?

Oh, I hade the impression it wasn’t possible at all - I’ll see the if anything changes for those modes and revert if it has. Sorry for noise then.

It's certainly technically possible, depending on model and location, but my car - MY22 iX50, iD8, v11/2023.64 - still has that restriction (no Start Up option in Efficient or Sport), and I suspect BMW hasn't changed it for the same reasons - possibly legal/liability/regulatory - in later models and iDrive versions. Congrats on the car BTW - looks sharp!

None that I would want, specifically, except for Personal Mode (which actually isn't), but you could also start in Expressive, Relax or Digital Art if so inclined, which would be my vision of the ninth circle of nether Hell, but that's just personal taste.

I hear you. The modes feature is just a joke I think, I’d rather have individual control over sport/comfort settings that are saved like in the Tesla. To mix the graphical expression with functional settings are just weird.
Anyway, I just ignore them :-) |

Enjoy!
20" & air suspension really make our iXs eat up rough & gravel roads in a pleasurable manner. Maybe not the best combo for aggressive high speed cornering action, but for us brisk backroads folks who don't like beating up our kidneys it's a great thing. |
