Thanks for that extremely helpful post! Do you know what the offset for our car is front and rear? How did you go about deciding on the enkei raijin's? I'm currently looking into getting some winter wheels and have no idea what our offset is or how to go about searching for some winter wheels (tires are the easy part).
If you will go to TR website they will only list wheels/tires that are appropriate to a selected model/year/option of your car - and if you google BmW i8 oem size chart for the wheels , those '19 would be an appropriate option compared to oem spec.

This package already tested - and working just fine and actually I prefer ride quality of those winter tires/wheels compared to the original summer setup - it's a little bit less harsh, I will be doing my usual 180 mile run in 2 weeks and will update you on their ride quality/ stability at constant hwy speeds of 75-90mph.

Snow has arrived and I was able to test my i8 for the first time in 10cm snow with Nokian WR D4 front and WR A4 rear tires. I am a daily driver and have the intention to use the car throughout winter. My impressions:

- the car lacks weight on the front axle. Front wheels tend to spin fairly quickly.
- all wheel drive works as expected on snow
- the mixed Nokian A4 and D4 tires have a pretty good grip. It is not as good as my Audi S5, but I would guess that it is mainly due to the total car weight
- some more ground clearance would be useful in deep snow

Over all I am satisfied and glad that I can continue to enjoy my i8 even during winter.

In my experience, reaching way back to winter rallying my 2002tii, and more recently my F80 M3, there are different pros/cons to narrow vs. wide winter tires. Narrow gets you more penetration into the snow. Wider gives you more float, which can be good in deep snow. Normally digging down gets you better traction, but with a car such as the i8 with low clearance, a wider snow tire can work well provided there is sufficient room in the wheelwell. Plus in many locations, snow is part-time, so a wider, W or Z rated high performance tire can provide excellent handling in dry and rain conditions with sufficient snow ability.
