Low rolling resistance I guess.

Btw, I am under the impression it was the VED that's featured in MI4 not the i8 but I might be wrong.

That's correct. See below, per an earlier post:

Press release: BMW is back in Hollywood with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

30.06.2011

Munich/Los Angeles. Back in Hollywood. BMW is pleased to announce their participation in the upcoming Paramount Pictures release “Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol” as the film’s main automotive partner.

High performance with fewer emissions is the name of the game: One of the BMW vehicles provided for Tom Cruise´s next film is the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car. It has been recognized as having the most sophisticated technology and the most striking design among the current concept electric supercars. In a few years the BMW i8, which was inspired by the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics concept vehicle, will enter series production.

“We are thrilled to be involved again in another Hollywood Blockbuster,” said Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “The BMW Group leads the way in developing future mobility with a focus on sustainability. One great example is the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car which will be presented in the film. With its futuristic design and large glass surfaces, the car offers a fascinating perspective on the future of sheer driving pleasure – in combination with maximum efficiency. Also with BMW ConnectedDrive technology, it is the perfect car for Ethan Hunt to outsmart his pursuers through narrow streets and busy city traffic.”

Having provided vehicles for outstanding film projects, TV productions, etc. for more than 75 years, entertainment marketing is firmly established as an important building block for the BMW Group’s long-term image and product communications.

“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”, directed by Brad Bird, is scheduled for release mid of December 2011.

BMW should bag the twin fake kidney grilles on the i3. They are totally pointless like the 3 fake intakes on the sides of Buick cars for years. BMW should not stoop so low as to build a car with fakes kidney grilles. The car so unique that it does not need them.

I think the i8 looks fantastic. Minus the fact that the public can see you scratching your genitals while driving.

Decreased non suspended and rotational masses are also a benefit of that solution. There are packaging benefits too.

Thanks! That's good to know. I didn't realize that the contact surface would stay the same.

Scott, I will be at the IAA this year, for the first time. How close will I be able to look at those two? Can I take a seat or is it like a Stripclub? Just look, don´t touch.

I8 Amazing!!
I3 not the best looking, but form follows function I suppose. Still better looking than any of the other "city" cars out there

Game changers both!!

My buddy saw them shooting the video for the I8 and I3 the other day. I wish I could've seen them in person.
