Dang it. Ok thx.
Seems like a silly new tech thing, but actually so convenient (got used to it on my Tesla Y - that and the dog mode I use > 3x week!) |

I4 has a 30 minute "pre-conditioning" mode (for the cabin not batteries) that keeps the cabin temperature to what you set it for 30 minutes after you exit the car. You shouldn't be leaving pets that long in a car unattended anyway.

Agreed. I think that pre-conditioning mode could work. Just turn on after turning off ignition?

Yes, when you turn the car off, a few options pop up on the right side of the screens. On my i4 M50 there was just an icon of a fan, but on our two iX and our son's new e40...it says Pre-condition now. You can touch the screen or use the iDrive knob to keep the screen finger print free (one of the worst things in the Tesla and Audi and now Mercedes...Jaguar and Land Rover too!). Love the iDrive knob!

That's how it is in the i4 too. After you turn off the car, several options pop up like "precondition now" and "activate valet mode", single tap and done deal.

I just shoved the regular key, minus the metal part, into my wallet's inner pocket. I play too open it up and remove the electronics then get a smaller case.

BUT...you need to activate the credit card key. It is not "live" like the key fobs. |

I just use my phone
I haven't used the cc or the keyfobs since I bought my M50. I only use my iPhone. Works like a charm. I hate the idea of replacing a keyfob so using my phone is way more appealing. My wife has been doing this on her 21 X7 for 2 years now. The only issue we have ever had was going to get service at the dealer when they asked for our fob. They got by with the cc she had on her.

My use case for the card key is for when I go to the lake. I feel much better about getting the card wet than I do getting the fob soaked.

How many credit card(s) did you get?
I only received one (1) credit card key with my i4 eDrive40.
Should I have gotten two credit card keys? Wallyf |

Dont see any need for a CC when you have the phone option unless android phones are not compatible. Ive always used my iphone or apple watch and use it to lock and unlock. Maybe when getting it serviced, I would give the, the fob. The CC is more of a back up and has been in my wallet all this time

Yes, if you have comfort access it will. I got that option since my tesla model S had it and I never get used again to opening and closing a car.

I personally prefer the old fashioned key fob. Our (now traded in MY for the i4) almost always had a lag when you walked up to the car to unlock the door. With the i4 the car unlocks as you walk up to it. I really like how quickly it responds.

This is why I use the fob as well. While phone or key card access (i.e. not having to carry something extra) is nice, the convenience of the car locking and unlocking based on my presence is better.

So can I clarify - what does the cc keyballow you to do?
Lock/unlock and start the car in tray? And it works well? My goal is to only have to carry my phone and my slim wallet. Will I be good? |
