Covid 19 Lockdown and Your i8

So, with all the chaos in the world at the moment, who is able to make use of their i8? Mines pretty much not moved for weeks now, stories, pics, anything cheerful would be great!

All I've been able to do is make sure my fleet is pristine and glistening!!

I took shopping to my 82 year old mum in mine early this morning. (Yes, we kept along way apart and i stood at the doorway).

15 miles round trip, all electric. Lovely, smooth and quiet. No other cars seen on the journey at 7am. Put a bit of Radiohead on and recounted a scene from Vanilla Sky in my head!

Well I had the time for a couple of drives with the wife. Also to ceramic coat it during a business day (the office of the detailer works as well as any other office). Although Germany also overreacted well past the real transmission mechanisms.

(closing clubs, sports stadiums, anything where people are very close and because of the ambient sound volume scream their virus load at each other would have been fine as the virologists who actually studied our super-spread events in Ischgel and a Carnival session in one federal state say, everything else is questionable, only Sweden responds appropriately)

We don't have a lock down and can roam around freely keeping some distance to people not living in the same household. Temperatures go up and the sun is shining. Would be great roadster weather but it is so good we reactivated the e-bikes yesterday and will drive around today again.

When I visited a friend for our 30 years traditional every Tuesday night Indian take away dinner I noticed that the low traffic really helps range. The about 40 km round trip typically at 3°C does get very close to range limit in EV only mode, now I had at that temperature 9km left, don't think I ever stopped on the way...

The roads to some local hilltop drives have been closed though because of too many people (especially bikers) where flooding them and the distancing became problematic. Other then that if you are allowed to and have great weather this is a perfect time for a roadster, guaranteed not to infect anyone driving by...

Stay healthy and sane!

I drive mine at least once a day for work, plus my post-doc's kitty developed FIP, the pathogen being a different family of corona virus, which is 99% fatal, but we are treating her with a variant of remdesivir by sc injection (hence I need to drive over everyday...). two weeks and she has fully recovered. My heart goes out to those of you in healthcare in NYC, Milan, Madrid...

I decided, because of the lock down,to take mine in for the drivetrain malfunction even though it's only happened a few times. It's always cleared after I restarted. This is two weeks ago. Since then I've had a 3 series, a 7 series and now a X5 as loaners. The 3 I had for the first week and it's a blast around corners. But I decided I wanted something better as they have my i8. So they loaned me a 7. Nice but nothing special. I've owned 2 before and it just seems to be a boat. I then asked what else they had and got a X5. I figured it's the best right now as I have a 4 wheel if I needed in an apocalypse as well as I have cargo space. All fun. It had 90 miles on it when I got it Friday.

Got mine out for a trip to Tesco yesterday. It is very important to keep some
Charge in the batteries. These new modern cars need a charged
Battery at all times so dont let them run down ..recent pic..

I live in the rural agglomeration of Zurich and have many hiking trails through fields and forests right around the house. And my dog is always a good reason to go out.
The only driving destination at the moment is my studio, which is about 15km away. I usually use the i3 for this, but depending on the mood, I sometimes currently also take the i8.
The last time I drove home with the i8, a little after sunset on an almost empty highway, I heard Johnny Cash and thought of my father, who was born just a few days after him. And I thought: how good, he didn't have to experience this times. Strange days indeed and it won't be over so quick.

All I can do is wash and detail the car. (done 3 times by now). Can’t go for a drive if there is no real purposes/need.

I maxed out the speedometer. Taking advantage of completely abandon highways and a lack of police

Roof closed similar to coupe. Tiny bit of flex noise / roof structure noise on broken roads. Electric car even more obvious.

I had coupe 5 years. A good change,
