If a BMW EV vehicle has this part leaking, anyone know how complex the repair process is? A simple drop an underbody aero plate, drain the coolant, replace the valve, replace coolant one hour fix or is this a complex, difficult repair?

Better than paying for it and then returning it for a leak and having it in the shop for who knows how long. Not exactly a confidence inspiring situation. Good luck. I’m lurking this forum as my 3 month old 2024 IX is in shop for this exact issue.

You can still have your car delivered. My dealer confirmed today that all the dealerships are offering their customers an option to sign an acknowledgement letter to get their cars with the stop sale released. This applies to all “i” models.

This seems like a bad idea until we know more about the situation. Accepting the car knowing it has a defective part could potentially come back to bite you personally and financially if something happens in between you signing something that could be construed as a waiver and getting the new valve, which may be months away.

I might also mention that nothing will diminish the excitement about a new car more than having it sidelined for a number of weeks within the first several months of ownership. That is my situation. |

Hello,
I also had the leak which was visible in temperatures over freezing (5 degrees celcius). My BMW dealer finally got the part in France and changed it. Do you know if the newly fabricated parts are improved and have had the leak fixed? Thanks |

That is NOT my experience with my IX. Got a phone call today and was told the part is not expected until April 2nd. I’ve got some decisions ahead….

Make sure you confirm that this is the NEW replacement part. My dealer said that they may be getting the old models and have suggested replacing them as a stopgap until they can get the redesigned parts. I was not on board with that.

At this point I don’t think there is a “New” part. Just the same part different day. Would love to tear one apart

Just got my car back from the dealership today. New valve installed with a 1/17/24 mfg date. Should be good? Fingers crossed.
As for signing that letter, while I can't provide you with legal advice, I am still a lawyer and I would not sign a letter that acknowledges that I'm taking a brand-new car with a known defect on it. Even if you're not waiving rights explicitly, you are taking the car knowingly and if something happens, it could come back to bite you. |

In any case, I have an iX xDrive50 in production, so I asked my dealer about the stop sale. They said the car is in production and there's no stop sale on it, so all is good! |

[QUOTE=iamdb;30890435]Could you ask the service advisor at the dealership? They are the only ones who can give us accurate information.
I was dealing directly with the Service Manager. He said that he's being told by BMW that post 1/4/24 production is good. |
