Need to get all seasons to replace the Summers on my ix50 (not going winter as I don't want to replace tires every year).

Are folks using dealers to get and replace tires? Or any other recommendations of good places I should be checking out to get better prices etc?

Heard some horror stories of someplaces not knowing how to handle EVs hence the question.

Discount Tire has changed tires for me on the new 23 black alloy wheel, they are doing alloy wheels all the time now without damaging them. However; on my 23 IX 50 I ordered the all season Bridgestone from the tire rack and had the dealer replace all 4 of the OEM Pirelli summer performance tires.

MY BMW dealer charged me $192. No damage on any wheel and a guarantee they would replace the wheel if they damaged one.

Good idea on getting them shipped I will look into that!

Get any reputable tire shop to do it. I’m getting tires mounted/balanced for $60-80 at independent shops and if you need, alignment for another $60.

Some people love to pay the stealership premium but honestly the OEM wheels are not that special. When you have $8-10k wheels then you should start caring.

I am 76 years old and my past experience is many independent shops will not get you a new wheel if they damage yours when changing tires. They make you promises and then either don't repent at all or the will not tell you they damaged the wheel or the pother thing is they will only pay for sending the original wheel to a wheel repair shop.

So its up to you how you feel about the integrity of the shop you use and at a independent shop I suggest you get a written and signed promise of what they will do! Of course its also up to you about how much you are willing to put up with a damaged wheel on a brand new car.

A big part of the reason i got the 22 inch wheels was availability and selection of replacement tires.

No joke. There are like 2-3 all season options in the 20" and 21" sizes. But the world is your all season oyster with the 22" wheels.

My iX is coming with the summer Bridgestones. I agree that the Michelin pS4 is a great tire. OI didn't know they would be willing to swap and get you the new tires. I'll inquire about it as I pick up the car next week.

You can always do a +0 fitment to 275/45R21 on the OE wheels. A little bit more wheel protection and much more lateral grip.

20” is the easiest. On the stock wheels you can go 235/60R20 (stock), 255/55R20, 275/50R20, 285/50R20 with those last 3 being volume (cheap) sizes. I run 275/55R20 for my winter set which doesn’t rub.

21” sucks. 255/50R21 (stock) or 275/45R21.

22” is ok. 275/40R22 (stock) or 285/40R22. With a 22-28 offset you can run 285/45R22 like me (volume size, cheap).

It seems that BMW do not spec an all season tire for an iX with 22 inch rims but my local dealer suggested several quality options. I went with Michelin Pilot All Season 4's 275/40R22. Bought them at Costco but had BMW install them.

Let us know of any range reduction. I've been reading mixed things, especially on the i4 Facebook groups.

I’m not on FB, mixed reviews like what? I haven’t installed my PSAS4 on my i4 M50 yet, and I was planning to install on my iX as well. I had the PSAS4 on my M4Cx and they were great

I have a '24 with the Pirelli' P-Zeros on the 22" rims. I am going to pull them and replace with Michelin Pilot All Seasons. The Pirellis ride to harsh for my liking.

No complaints I recall about how the tire performs. Some reported rather drastic reduction in range.

I got the 21s specifically because the MICHELIN PRIMACY TOUR A/S tires were available in that size. I would have gotten the 20s if there was a decent tire in that size. The 20" Bridgestone and Goodyear in A/S that fit have mediocre rating. And I'd never get 22s because of the harsher ride and higher likelihood of damage.

That was probably me on FB. If it’s tires only, you’re seeing 3-5% drop in range max (if any). If you’re swapping out the wheels to non-aero (especially heavy 3-piece forged 22” like me for my dailies), you’re looking at 15%+ in range penalty from wheels alone, on top of the 3-5% penalty from non-EV (Low LRR) tires.
