In the paint booth

Our IX 50 BRM appears to be moving along expeditiously in the Dingolfing plant.
Friday it was at "Production Begins" and this morning (Monday) status moved to "Exterior body assembly begins" and a few hours later it is now "in the paint booth".
Can anyone suggest ways to forsee the potential timeline from the paint booth to the Port of New York?
This is exciting for us, the IX being our long awaited first EV and our first higher spec Bimmer.

No way to foresee, but my rough optimistic timelines below still apply. Though, stuff can happen at any point to add weeks to the trip. Your car will be done today or tomorrow, so expect at least:
  • A week to get from the factory to the port (wait time for transport assignment)
  • A week to get assigned a ship
  • Three weeks at sea
  • Two weeks to get through VPC and then assigned and transported to the dealer
Your car will be done today or tomorrow, so the clock starts ticking ~now. You might see it as soon as end of March. But sometime mid- to late-April is probably more likely.

As soon as you see the status change to "In Transit," you can call the BMW Genius to get the name of the Ship. Then you can track the ship to Baltimore harbor.

A week to get vessel assignment is overly optimistic. Some us waited for a lot longer, 7-8 weeks for example.

What do you think is a more realistic optimistic time? Mine was 3 weeks but affected by interior trim stop sale. 7-8 weeks is probably an outlier. Others on the forum have posted times under a week.

3-4 weeks wait time for vessel assignment is more realistic.

What was your Prod Date if you don't mind me asking? Mine is still in "Production Begins" with a Prod Date of 02/16, so I'm trying to estimate when it'll go into the paint booth

Approximately two weeks for me in November 2023.

Tnx xiii. I'm hoping for eo'March, but any part of April will rock my boat. Always my fave time of year to enjoy the fun back roads of the Catskills on fine new wheels. Snow, ice & road salt will be gone, everything bursting out in bloom, weekender crowds not yet arrived.

I'll keep updating progress on this thread.
Appreciate everyone's comments.
If any one hears of other similar builds that are currently in motion, I would love to hear how they are progressing.
So far, I am very happy with rapid progress and help from our dealer.
I was reluctant to commission a new build, but I wanted a 50 in BRM or AVR or other stand out color along with air suspenion, and we couldn't find any in inventory in the NE.

We might end up on the same boat. Mine was in the paint booth yesterday and just moved to “entering assembly line”, so it looks like I am just in front of you.

Which color is AVR?

7 weeks for me, might be the leaky valves that caused the wait, took 7 weeks to go from finished at factory to port and now waiting at port so it might even be much longer

I think the recent builds have been picked up by a ship more quickly than before. Mine finished production and was at the port on 1/31, and it caught the 2/2 boat (west coast delivery) and the status updated to in-transit on 2/5. Over on iX subreddit, there's an east coast delivery that was picked up within a day or two by a ship.

We made it to "quality check" on 02/07, 5 days after "production begins".

It's been enjoyable & enlightening to track the vehicle through production at the Dingolfing while watching youtube videos of the actual processes occurring on IX Xdrive 50's.

I enjoyed watching those videos imagining where my order was in that process as well.
I just move to “Dispatched from Factory” so now the long wait begins for a ship to be assigned and the trip made across the pond for ultimate delivery in Michigan.

May your ship come in, CM!

Sounds like we're a week or so behind you.

Working on prepping for my charging infrastructure in the garage for the IX and one outside for guests and visitors to the Woodstock area.
